bosses with effort and thinking
I definitely like the idea of more tactic and strategy.
- If I may quote WoW, which made some more fun-to-play dungeons during WotLK, although they were a bit too easy.
In some of them you had to hide behind objects to avoid a charging attack, in Icecrown Citadel dungeons you would have Arthas coming after you, which made the fighting more intense.
- Sometimes the battle is most epic when you’re not fighting. Sometimes it is the feeling that you are up against impossible odds that makes it all the more awesome when you then actually defeat the boss.
- All in all I like the combat in GW2, I think it has potential to make players feel more epic in combat, but without more interesting boss fights it is going to lose some of that. It is cool to be able to pull off some nice moves, but it grows stale when fighting the Champion bosses. They are basically the same as all the other monsters, but they take longer to defeat. That is not an interesting boss fight (I know that it is not like this for the Champions in general, but they could definitely do with more interesting abilities).
I like your idea, and I think it worthwhile for ANet to look into some of that, because personally (although I haven’t even played all the dungeons in GW2) I find these dungeons less engaging than in other MMO’s I’ve played.
- I hope they fix it in due time, and I hope they take your post into account.
