i like boss battles in games, it gives a sense of challenge and putting everything you know to the test, but in gw2 it just feels like im shooting and slashing at a champion enemy with even more health so how about making a boss that requires effort, teamwork and coordination.

for example, the inquest created a super golem almost the size of the shadow behemoth and we have to destroy it. to do so when the boss starts you have to disable the barrier around it while it starts up by destroying these generators around the area (which is in the shape of a hexagon). when they are down the super golem will activate. but it has a outer core creating an overlay shield and you need to destroy the shield by hitting the generator located in its chest. this is important because the overlay shield will absorb damage AND effects like bleeding, cripple, poison, blindness ect. and when it attacks those effects will be used back on the players so it is vital to attack the generator first. when the generator is down now you can attack it head on. in this stage, unlike other bosses the golem has movement and is unstoppable so it cant be immobilized or crippled. when 1/5th or 2/5th of its health is lost it will let out 5 shield turrets that will create a barrier around the golem and it will heal itself (like 10 health per second) and the turrets will have to be destroyed before attacking the golem again (also attacking the barrier will have the same effect as the overlay shield)
when its defeated it will fall apart like a normal golem and the battle will be won

another example, the jormag emperor (or warlord or whatever) has risen and you have to fight him. he might seem like a regular boss but like the super golem he can move and cant be immobilized or crippled and its real hard to do real damage on him because he has high defense when hes standing so to do damage on him you have to get him on his feet. to do this there has to be two groups. one group on the ground and another on the top of the cliff in the area, the ground group will have to lure him to the cliff and wait until he does a charging attack with his sword and hit the wall. when its hit large boulders or giant ice spheres will appear on the top of the cliff and the cliff group will have to push it on his head. when it hits the jormag boss will be knocked down and stunned and everyone will have a good 15 or 20 seconds to attack him while hes vulnerable.

I definitely like the idea of more tactic and strategy.
- If I may quote WoW, which made some more fun-to-play dungeons during WotLK, although they were a bit too easy.
In some of them you had to hide behind objects to avoid a charging attack, in Icecrown Citadel dungeons you would have Arthas coming after you, which made the fighting more intense.

- Sometimes the battle is most epic when you’re not fighting. Sometimes it is the feeling that you are up against impossible odds that makes it all the more awesome when you then actually defeat the boss.

- All in all I like the combat in GW2, I think it has potential to make players feel more epic in combat, but without more interesting boss fights it is going to lose some of that. It is cool to be able to pull off some nice moves, but it grows stale when fighting the Champion bosses. They are basically the same as all the other monsters, but they take longer to defeat. That is not an interesting boss fight (I know that it is not like this for the Champions in general, but they could definitely do with more interesting abilities).

I like your idea, and I think it worthwhile for ANet to look into some of that, because personally (although I haven’t even played all the dungeons in GW2) I find these dungeons less engaging than in other MMO’s I’ve played.
- I hope they fix it in due time, and I hope they take your post into account.
