bring APB style pvp into GW2 pve
to put it short
- you select the the mode in the ui
- you get matched up in a party with others
- you get a “ready” button
- you press start and your party will get a mission
- another team will be sent against you
- both teams have the same objective location but different goals: one is there to steal, other is there to protect
- missions have multiple objective chains
- teams can only attack eachother and not other players even if these are in the same mode but doing other missions or they are not in the pvp mode
- way point traveling system is disabled. mounts will be provided in the form of the wild life.
This will create an open world spvp which will take advantage of the current zones and will not affect the PvE players who are not interested in pvp but will help them occasionally if the missions objectives of pvp mode teams are in the same locations

typical answer from a personal perspective. not convincing. no arguments, no debate. just an ignorable answer
If it’s completely optional and doesn’t hinder pve players who just want to pve normally, I have no problem with it.

It can be nice but it will probably be implemented as activity with limited mission.

of course it is optional. it will be a probably most appreciated by lvl 80s because this pvp mode could be connected to the orders.
once entering the pvp mode an UI will pop up telling you a message from your order. This can send you to different zones to complete various missions but the other orders will come against you because they need to get it first
So, instead of having a “gang war” or “cops vs criminals” we can have an “order’s war” that can be accessed only after the character has joined an order
Winning missions will increase your order status and you can get more advances missions: protect, guard, steal, recover, fetch, capture
It is something similar to the guild missions only that these are accessible by every one and it is seen in the open world where besides he NPC foes you need to fight the opponents
This mode is exclusively based on parties which can be done automatically or manually. the party size can vary too based on the mission difficulty or on how many players do this

excuse me?
all you want is PvP in a place for PvE, get it through you head that a place for PvE should NEVER EVERY be used for your PvP crap.
your whole suggestion is something ppl sould ignore, there is absolutely no reason why PvP should be in PvE and allot of reason why PvP should not be in PvE.
so again, NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
or are the many O’s confusing you?

its not the O’s confusing me but the lack of objective arguments. Again you talk about a “lot” of reasons and don’t give even one example.
My suggestion is not crap because it is already successfully applied in the game I am getting the inspiration from and it is not affecting YOUR pve play-style. It just gives other reason for people to be in the zones then just doing the Champ trains. Besides, if you are one of the passengers, no worries it will not affect your income.
Also, if you would have read further, you could see it is about some horizontal progression for the characters what the current sPvp and Wvw are not offering, being separate games and having no connection in the lore at all.
here is a gameplay clip to see how the things work there: open world, “mounts”, objectives, team vs team without affecting the others

We do not need any argument or debate to prevent changing what we like to a style we do not like. Honestly, your request is more ignorable then his reply to it.
if you want to play APB style go play APB, otherwise, we will continue to enjoy our GW2 being GW2 style.

First of all my idea is not changing the GW2 style – which by the way is a dead zones style atm except a few of them – and if bringing a new game mode to a game makes it worse then it already is even tho it is not interfering with the existing one, than absolutely you are the one that knows how a pumpkin pie tastes without even eating it.
How is this affecting the GW2 style if you are just seeing people fighting eachother in a zone in the name of their orders while none of their skills will even scratch you? You will be free to do your boring hearts and map completion, even the champ trains whiteout even bother who is around you

Is there any reason why this could not take place in the Mists? I understand that PvP fans are looking for different PvP game modes. This would also allow for better balanced fights with PvP gear and builds.

some reasons for not happening in the mists
- it is connected to the orders and they are a part of PvE not PvP lore
- it is supposed to be unbalanced because it is a game of opportunity not an e-sport: expl some can spawn directly near the next objective while others need to run to it. not all order’s members are the same professionals (in apb you as a new player with starter gear are put in a team with better people fighting against other noobs and pros in the other teams
- it brings more incentive to go to different zones because the orders send you to different places
- Anet doesnt need to create new maps while these are already done.
not accessing the mode up until you are in an orders saves the really new characters from being completely noobs
- there are team vs team missions which can bring more teams fighting eachother for different goals in the same map without interfering between eachother: no one can attack anybodyelse then the ones in their opposing team. like more spvp matches in one single map

You people are ridiculous lmao.
“OMG THERES 2 PEOPLE PVPING EACH OTHER IN MY PRECIOUS EMPTY BORING PVE MAPS………… THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!!!!!”
My god, you must’ve burst a vein playing in another MMO that has dueling.
not sure how the whole mission thing would work as im sure there will be issues balancing teams, i.e if your delivering apples to the bandit cave will the bandits be friendly to you?
however something like a simple turn off/on friendly fire, which has like a 2-3 minute cooldown just for players who want a little added danger in PVE, it makes ppl who have it active able to fight each other, and ppl in a group cant target each other.
I think it would be pretty cool to see fights like this happening in a pve zone
PvP of any sort in PvE areas will never happen.
It could happen in a separate copy of the area that looks exactly like the area, but with PvP rules, but it will enver happen in the PvE area itself.
It’s one of those things that are not up for discussion. Like monthly fees, or different worlds with different rulesets like roleplaying, PK or starting at level 80.

then go and play your boring PvP crap, leave PvE alone.
The reason PvP should be kept completely separate from PvE in a full-fledged fantasy MMORPG is primarily for balancing issues and griefing. When you start incorporating one into the other you have to work hard to not only keep them balanced, but keep them in balance together. Blizzard has outright said (before being bought out by Activision years ago) that it’s simply impossible and they regret every choice they made with PvP.
What that means is simple; when you put PvP into the same environment as PvE, you open the door for certain behaviors from players. Then you also have to worry about what you do to PvP breaking PvE, or vice versa. On top of that, you have to ensure that content flows easily with the advent of PvP, and sometimes that content doesn’t overlap in such a way that accidentally encourages the bad bahaviors we opened the door to in the first statement.
The best way to handle PvP in a story-based game, is to keep it away from the open world. Copying PvE maps and creating PvP content is a great idea, simply inserting PvP into the current PvE zones would not truly go so simply. This is a very short response to this, as I don’t have the time currently to expound upon any of the above statements, but the current trend has been to create separate environments that are easily controlled and balanced away from PvE (see Firefall, our beloved GW2, Elder Scrolls Online, Neverwinter Online).
My idea compilation thread:

I believe anet worked hard to encourage cooperation and friendliness in PvE. You see it in how easy it is to jump in and help people in fights, in reviving people, and in how few events can be intentionally failed. Once you start adding PvP you risk adding a lot of bad blood and resentment.
That said, I had an idea the other day for certain dungeons (or an option for existing dungeons) where players can invade, Dark Souls style. If players opt in to invasion mode, other players can spawn in the dungeon and try to kill them. There’s some details to work out, but it could be pretty interesting.
(If you haven’t played dark souls, I highly recommend it. Well, with the caveat that it may make all other games feel overly simple and hand-holdy)
- it is connected to the orders and they are a part of PvE not PvP lore
Talking about lore, you know it’s lore breaking for the orders to be fighting eachother right? They are allies and, as we all know, formed the pact. And even if they wanted to fight eachother they still wouldn’t do it because we have bigger enemies to fight.
They stand for a united effort against the elder dragons, to be fighting eachother would be ridiculous (lore wise).
~Sincerely, Scissors
well, guys, you simply don’t understand how the system works in APB and I will not waste my time to explain it for all the negative minded. If the devs want to look into it, they can freely do it. That game is free to download.
Anyway, to answer some of you here, it will not interfere with the PvE world in such a way to ruin it like you think it will, it is not similar with any game that has duels in it and it may be connected with the orders because even if they allied together for the dragon fight, they still are not too friendly with eachother and they still have different ways to accomplish their goals which implies they can have a fight between eachother over the information
even if they allied together for the dragon fight, they still are not too friendly with eachother
That still doesn’t mean they will kill eachother for it, they are at war, killing eachother off over insignificant disagreements is pointless, stupid and outright lorebreaking.
I’m not questioning your pvp suggestion here, I’m just saying you should pick something else to fight besides the orders.
I usually don’t like pvp. There is only one form of pvp I might have liked and that was the pvp event in the beta, where you could be turned into branded. I sadly missed this but I would really like it if anet somehow reintroduced this event, maybe in a seperate area?
