broken skill point work around please
The skill points are pretty annoying, I agree. My opinion is people are just generally in too big of rush to finish content. The issue is you finish the content, then complain / whine about wanting more content. Just be patient, go WvW, PvP, complete another area, do some jumping puzzles, do some dungeons, etc…
Main Character: Lugg Knut (Charr/Engineer)
Guild: Bed Intruders [HIDE]
I don’t think it’s about finishing all the content. I’m just now closing in on 80 on my main, I’m hardly rushing. Still, I like to complete maps at level rather than hoping something will be working later on and I’ll catch it while it is (I was super lucky a guildie commented that the cattlepult was working so I could swap to my Charr and zip over there for that one). Plus how do you remember which skill point was broken so you can go back for it later without traveling to zones at random intervals to check? Then there’s the completionist urge to fill in all the blanks.
I like Option One best. I don’t want default completion, I want to do the work to get the skill or vista or whatever. I want to see the content. However, I do foresee one issue with it: If every player can force an overflow any time they want, the servers might explode …
This is by far the most annoying part of the game for me right now. I would have completed the map a week ago if it weren’t for the southern Malchor’s Leap skill point being nonexistent and the southern Metrica Province skillpoint being a rotting corpse that I have to fight.

What are you talking about whining and complaining??? I been on since launch, I do not have a single character at 80, have 5 between 35 and 60 though…hardly “rushing through” I think… if you read the OP, I was not “complaining” but rather making some constructive suggestions to allow us a work around until they have time to actually fix the issue. I was attemting to be constructive…much unlike your response…but thanks for your useful observation.

I don’t think it’s complaining to expect that when you buy a game that they actually fix problems that have already been going on for weeks. Instead they seem to be tunnel-visioning on balance issues instead of progress-blocking issues.
Daily server resets would work aswell. Or change the broken skill points into commune skill points
The email response suggeded that I post this in the public forums, and draw attation to it…As they imply that suggestions that receive atequet response tend to draw the attention of the development team…figured I would try to go that route.

Like this too…more options for securing a temporary soloution until a fix is found are great. thank you!
I have completed all of the level 1-25 zones on my server and the cities. But two of the maps on my server, interestingly in the two Char areas, have one point broken. One has a broken skill point, one has a broken vista.
I may be accused of rushing through content— then again, after doing all the quests and visiting all the vistas in my original areas and finding my level too low to do my personal story, I resolved to do all the maps of the same level tier one at a time (and collect all the hunter pets).
Given the way this particular game awards collectionist behavior (my personal gameplay style) in a way no other MMORPG I have played before ever has (I am used to losing out on doing quests because I leveled too fast), it is particular annoying for there to be just one last small thing to do in order to get the rewards for completing the map. The fact that it seems fixing these issues is very low on the priority list of the support staff is a bit demoralizing as well. It just doesn’t bode well for there to be a skill point NPC that is missing for over a week. Is it really such a difficult thing to fix?
good idea the thing wiht overflow
Please please please implement one of these ideas Arenanet. You keep attempting to fix the skill points and failing. A simple workaround until you find a permanent solution would make a lot of people happy. Please listen to your customers.
Signed.
I think once they get the guesting feature going it will provide a workaround for this problem. Assuming they don’t fix the bugs that cause them first.
I have been quite frustrated by broken skill points. Most recently Metrica/Inquest Complex and Brisbane/Hidden Lake.
These points are important because they add up to abilities that I should have and don’t yet while leveling, and the OCD completist in me is going bonkers. I don’t believe the system needs to be redone; we just need the bugs fixed so we can actually get our points.

I can understand that the fixes may be complicated and take some time. and I have tried to continue my game, ignoring the broken skill points. but they are starting to pile up. I would love some kind of a fix for them, even if temporary. if you have to just make it a commune point temporarily or just a potion you pick up and drink. but find some way of being able to complete these maps. The overflow is a nice idea but even that will most likely break if there are enough people in the overflow map. the “pile” of broken skill points is getting very irritating.
