this is a little feedback and a few suggestions about class balance in wvw and spvp
so please no flameing responses i would like to keep this constructive. this is made from my pov (i main a mesmer) and would like other people to add their feedback about how they would like to balance the current wvw and spvp balance issues:
i think anet has put a lot of work into the warriors, but given them a lot of everything without much risk for them. if u are happy with the warrior though, then the other classes have to be brought up to the same level. first off spvp and wvw balance has to be separated, what is strong in spvp, could very well be overpowered in wvw or underpowered:
rangers for example are still able to perform quite well in spvp, but in wvw guild dont want them. in wvw they are the bottom of the bottom of the bottom. their pet dies right away in a zerg. they have very little survivability in a zerg and also cant contribute much in a zerg. i’ve seen some glass cannon rangers attacking from the backline though, but the majority of guilds ask people to reroll or wont allow them in their guild.
warriors are very dominant in spvp and very op in wvw. almost everyone in wvw plays warriors. the meta there is way worse and forces u to zerg up as there is no way to counter a warriortrain if u are a group that hasnt warriors or only a few warriors. they have like nothing to fear. cc doesnt affect them as they got stability, conditions barely harms them, they got insane regen, great toughness and deal massive cc, condis and dmg all together. i would love to see other classes either being brough up to this level or maybe change it so the warrior has to choose whether to be tough and deal a little less cc and a little less dmg or deal high dmg, lots of cc and be less tough and more vunerable to condis.
would like to add that in spvp they did need buffs as they were bottom of the bottom there before, but in wvw always pretty strong.
necros very dominat in spvp and wvw. their aoe’s are very effective in wvw. they can deny an entire zerg access to a lordsroom if 5 necros put down their marks all at the chokepoint. for the enemy it goes like this: go, push in! u run through the gate and boom! massive stacks of a ton of condis hit u and u die in like 2 seconds. but the warriortrains are a pain for them too as they lack stability.
ele is in a very bad spot in spvp atm, due to long cast times, cc meta, condimeta and very often gets cornered by melee classes and condition bombs. in wvw though they are part of the meta and very strong. their aoe’s can hit like 6k a hit, they can go full glass and aoe is very important vs zergs. they also can take down every siege on walls and they are the best healers for your group.
engi is very strong in spvp if played right. in wvw still under played, because it requires skill to be a good engi( i tried it out and gotta say, it takes time to get used to an engi)
thieves are pretty strong in spvp(and people cry about this class the most), but nothing like the wvw roaming thief. i get almost 1 shot by thieves in wvw. in spvp the thieves dont just run a mile away if they are about to lose as spvp maps are more cluttered than the flat wvwv maps. 13k backstabs followed by 6-9k heartseekers with my 1900 toughness and over 2.8 k armor mesmer is a little high.
permastealth is meta there and very often u will see a thief trolling a keep with perma stealth and massive burst dmg. beware the group of 3 thieves that can easily take down 10-15 players 1 by 1.
but they lack a lot in zergs. they are mainly used for ganking people and casters in the backlines of zergs. they do need rework too as without their stealth they are wayyyyy to squishy in wvw. traitlines could use some serious rework there. shave the high backstab dmg and stealth but not without giving them more survivability outside stealth.
imo a thief out of stealth is weak. i used a block vs a thief and nearly killed him with the 5 stacks of torment. then i managed to cast an iwarden that refelcted his pistol shots and he died right away. without his stealth he would have died even quicker, so i see why thief players are very protective over their stealth….it really is the only thing they have and also the reason why they can go full glass cannon. so u cannot remove and nerf stealth just like that. they need a lot more survivablity and better traits before that can happen.
