Wait, what is the point in having to combine weapons to be able to switch stats? Why the hell wouldn’t you just carry two weapons? The only difference is a bag slot and a lot less messy programming.
Yes, why not. Quality of life improvements are always welcome, especially in gear department in GW2, where it’s a total mind boggling mess atm. As for legies, they were supposed to be cosmetic anyway, i don’t see why someone who decided to spend 2435365 hours to farm legie can have better quality of life in GW2 than all other players. :P

Legendaries were meant to be just nice skins.
If ascended were the last tier and players would be able to swap stats imo there would be a lot less discontent regarding their introduction.

I’m a legendary owner, and I completely support this.
As stated above, legendary weapons were meant to be aesthetic only. The swappable-stat feature currently on them is great, but I don’t see why it should be a legendary exclusive, it was merely an attempt to fix the transmuting legendaries problem.
At least anet could do this for sigils. If weapons had 3 or so sigil slots, and you could choose which one is active at a time, it would save those who use multiple sigils and weapon types a huge headache, especially for people who have multiple characters. Having to make 3 ascended weapons of the same type to accommodate different sigils is extremely user UN-friendly…

you did not read the entire post. in order for an ascended to have a particular stat combination, you would need to own the original weapon with that stat.
it would be something like this.
Berserker ascended GS + Soldier ascended GS = Ascended GS that can swap between Berserker and soldier stats.

No, Not now not ever before i got legendary i just changed around same type of weapon i had 5 greatswords just swapped to whatever i wanted and those are basically FREE compared to a legendary weapon! If you want this then grind for a legendary else just change weapon.

I think giving this functionality to ascended items would be a nice addition, and it would help alleviate some of the hard feelings about anet killing build variety.
As someone else pointed out though, this could cause some issues with crafting since people would only ever craft 1 with the cheapest mats. My suggestion for that, would be to require some sort of ‘unlock’ system for the stats, which would still require the crafting. Maybe not a whole weapon though. You could only swap to stats you have ‘unlocked,’ similarly to how we could only swap to secondary professions we knew in gw1, and we had to learn/unlock those secondaries before we could use them (much more of a trial in the earlier games than at the end, but same general concept).

Though I disagree that you should even need to unlock the other sets to be able to do it. For the kind of grind that ascended weapons require, they oughta be able to do that natively. Keep in mind that to get a dual-wielding/weapon-switching character fully geared out, you’re going to have to grind 4 Ascended weapons as it is, without even having alternate specs. Let’s not even talk alternate characters. It would be far more cost-efficient to buy more bank/inventory space with gems at that point.
It’s amazing how petty the Legendary weapon holders are being in this thread though. For the past year, Legendaries have only been about prestige skins, but now they add this little bonus that you’ve had for less than a month, and suddenly you’re entitled to hold this over the unwashed masses?

If ascended weapons had the stats of exotics, had the capability of swapping stat out of combat, but had an ugly skin, I’d be working toward my ascended gear.

If the Legendary players really want something mechanical to gloat about over other players, I would throw them the bone of making it so that their Legendaries have the same bonuses, and are natively Account Bound without all the transmutation hassle.
Yes, swapping stats would be good. They can let you swap sigil instead for Legendary to keep it unique.
But I’d be happy to be able to swap colour only at this point.
It’s asinine to have built in gear check and having to craft a second item to transmute the skin for color.

As an owner of two legendaries, I fully support this idea. It would encourage farming through the reward of obtaining any build at any moment: diversity. Furthermore, I’d accept to pay a small fee for changing those stats, like we can do now with traits.
Something like this will be enough for me for not leaving this game when I finishes SAB TM.

Even if you still had to “unlock” the stats ( I would prefer you didn’t) it would a lot more convenient and encouraging to build diversity than having to carry everything around with you or storing it in the bank. Would be nice if you could do could add skins as well and make collecting skins viable.
Legendary weapons were always suppose to be about the skin and the prestige not a mechanical advantage.

Thing is, some people might be pretty set on their build and their play style. Some might be able to use the same stats in pve and wvw.
Personally, I am not set on one build at all and I would not feel comfortable with berserker stats in wvw.
I kinda feel that I will have to settle for a build soon though. I don’t think I have the energy to craft several possible weapon sets and just the though of having to do the same thing for the armor. :<
Obviosuly crafting gear and combining said gear into one wont solve my natural resentment towards crafting, but I do think that if ascended could swap stats, it would give the entire ascended theme a bit more purpose for me at least.

I am owner of 4 legendaries weapons on my warrior only that I use in wvw and I have 3 other alt level80 that I play mostly in pve.
Legendary feature only BECAUSE every others qualities tiers have different weapons stats existing already; only legendaries weapons had only one stat combinaison possible and it was an issue that pushed owners to turn them into transmutation skin with different stats combinaison. Finally Anet gave the feature that legendaries weapons are no longer needed to get transmuted in order to have the right stats you needed. If you would give this feature to any other tiers lower it would result in only one weapon per set in game per quality level : all the crafting and material linked to specific stat combo would have NO MORE use. All crafting system would be also BROKEN.
This feature is a very welcome addition to legendary owners and in the same time it give an INCENTIVE to everyone to go on the Legendary gear with time. It will be also available for legendary armors and this will be the ultimate end game gear because of stats swaps feature. Definetely for all these reasons, this feature is in no way going to affect ascended.
At start legendaries were skin only but the highest legendary tier always suffered from a single stat combo that no other weapons had in any lower tiers then this feature has been implemented to fix an issue about how legendaries weapons have been design primaly. Now they will remain skin only but without issues regarding the stat combo choice: there is definetely no reason to give this ability to any lower tier weapons even ascended’s one. Also legendaries owners asked for this stat swap feature long ago it was never ever been mentioned any reason why it would be affecting any other tiers than legendaries and it’s in no way Anet intents, now people that are not owning any legendary are just envious of this end game feature but you have to deserve it to get it then go get legendaries gears and you ll enjoy it, period. Also to step back from transmuted legendaries Anet implemented transmutation breakers feature that everyone can use on anything.
Moreover Anet want us to WORK TOWARD legendaries for their own reasons and there are few I won’t list them here.

Now I ll ask you WHY it should affect another tier weapon, WHICH ONE and HOW every issues regarding the crafting would be fix in your opinion. Remember that rules : 1. don’t fix what is not broken : and 2. any convenience reason is in no way taking over game design intent.

the default legendary skin are ugly.
This would give me an incentive to go for ascended weapons. Stat swapping is amazing and would save so much inventory space, not to mention the doors it would open to experiment with different builds without spending gold.
As of right now I don’t see the need to spend all that gold for ascended weapons to gear 8 characters. So I’m not too bothered with ascended.
p.s. I’m also a Legendary owner.
EDIT: Oh, I misread the part where you need to buy all ascended weapon stats first before you can swap through them. Then what’s the point? I guess it saves inventory space. I wouldn’t be too hype if they implemented this though, would have to spend a fortune to even use this feature.

well, to justify the grind. if not all the parts, then maybe just the inscription part.

legendaries still have the unique skin.
to increase the value of legendary gear, simply allow legendary gear to swap skin as well.
and why would u want to limit the stat swapping ability of legendary gear?
