firstly gw2 really a good game and anet really made a big big world of many possibility on design.
i notice that anet want to stop the exploit and money farming of the game.
“no farming” is the ideal of gw2, but if i want the material of cook like butter and eggs, i still need to farm the bags from the monster.
so i am thinking about the home district
-farming.
not killing monster farm, is the “real” farming make player can farm what they need.
if i want to get eggs, so i feed the chicken in my home district’s grange.
remember the strawberry garden of charr?
so why we cannot farm in our home district if we want those food?
-how to farm
every home district will have the empty ground for players decide what they want to
do. (like farm, feeding some animal?)
-where can i get the seeds/ how to feed my chicken?
if decide to farm, players can get the seeds from npc by using karma/coins.
(or they can find some rare flower seeds from outside.)
if decide to feed, so they can choose the animal what they want to feed.
(maybe there are difference animal to feed depend of player’s race.)
-how about the period of harvest?
maybe there are few hours, or half day in real time.
(the number of harvest depend on player’s fertilizer on their field.)
-how to grow the plants / what things can i feed those animal?
for the plants, players can use the water burrow for the normally grow so they will get lesser of harvest.
-how to get more in one time?
for the plants, we can get material from outside to make plants grow better.
for example, we can get cow pie from the cow to make the harvest better! :P
for the animals, we can get better food from cooking skills, or hunting to feeding them.
-whats difference with farming plants?
feeding animal so we can get particular meat from them or collect wool or feather from sheep, or something else.
-how this system affect the game economy?
this depend on the difficulty of farming or feeding.
but at least, this not only way to get those material because player can self-sufficiency:
they still can buy those eggs,
they still can get eggs from bags who killed monster(monster farming)
but this will make players more interest into it because its not “HEY! I SWUNG A SWORD AGAIN!” (colin said that but i cant feel it actually in gw2)
-new players benefit and long-term effective
i understand the fear of anet that player exploit the karma to get unbalance benefit.
but this way can make people spend karma on this to make satisfaction of themselves, not only spend on weapon and equipment.
also players will take care of their home district,
i found players not really care of their home now because there are lack of “sense of belonging” of players. home not like “home”, right?
-new players benefit:
new players can farm/feed the material who need it to make money, or use themselves
-long-term effective:
-Dynamic Event
can add some event on your field or whole home district like:
bandit want to steal your plants/ or fire on your farm
-Diversity and little detail of world (THIS IMPORTANT! designers should know)
-players can make some beautiful flower for holding
or make some beautiful flower put on their hair.
-also we can discover some special mini-pet from feeding some animals
players can get the egg and make them ALIVE!
(like GW1 black moa egg adventure! i love it so much!)
-Get the material by not-killing monster, funny way
-we can get difference tier of material depend the way they feed/farm.
as i said, they can get some material themselves, good for causal players.
i will add more idea for this later

also this way will extent the PvE end-game content and make people love this world.
