suggestion: check time between map chat messages before suppressing and/or unsuppress after a certain amount of time regardless of whether anyone else has typed anything (-im working on the assumption that its based on consecutive messages)

this is possibly the most annoying thing ingame at the moment; in my opinion

right now im on desolation and an trying to farm CM enough for a set on my guardian (desolation is a mostly UK server afaik… so its kinda dead at this time of night -3am- but i have a pretty messed up sleep cycle) over half an hour (semi afk-watching TV) i posted 3 times ‘LFG CM exp’ and became suppressed due to ‘excessive messaging’ as barely anyone else is online… i went and made a coffee+cheeseontoast; finished it… cam back and im still suppressed. which is ridiculous.

*though i suppose a usable dungeon group finder would work as well; so i wouldnt have to keep broadcasting

Your message was suppressed. Unless gw2 want to provide in games voip, this needs to be removed from WvW. Whats the point of having a commander out there if he cant tell squad members what to do?

Message suppression needs to be removed period. The ones who abuse it (gold sellers) don’t seem to have a problem and can send message after message. Suppression only hurts legitimate players, especially those lfg. Seriously, just get rid of suppression. People will report and block the spammers. The rest of us could actually ask for a group or talk in map chat.

Removing it completely, I think, would just be a bad idea. People would abuse it (trolls, annoying people, bots, etc.).

However, I had posted 2 messages… only 2 messages in map chat and received this message. Come on… Something does need to be fixed for this.

it would… though most gold sellers seem to camp in LA (where theres a constant flow of map chat – so they dont seem to get suppressed)

I can trigger the message suppression warning quite easily without even trying or wanting too. This needs to be fixed! The only workaround is to use /emote to communicate.

I agree, this needs to be fixed immediately. I type a few messages and I get suppressed. Even when I change the wordings, I still get suppressed. It’s really annoying.

At least stop it in inner guild mail. It is ridiculous I cannot send guild wide mail as an option anyway, but try copying and pasting a guild event message in 50 different mails, with message suppression…. Will make you want to kill kittens.

Ya this needs to be removed, I said looking for group with one minute in-between twice and triggered it.

Yes! PLEASE! We have an event Saturday, tried to send guild members messages inviting them as a reminder. I stopped after 6 messages because after 3 messages “Message suppression” was triggered. This means afterward to made wait 2 mins between posts.

PLEASE DISABLE THIS IN INNER GUILD MAIL! The player should not be punished for gold spammers or other people.

1.Add an option for an officer to send guild wide mail.
2. Stop message suppression!
3. Have Message of the Day auto posted upon log on in Guild chat! <——-This would help us effectively communicate timely, important INFO!

When we had the last 2 guild events, it really was aweful I couldn’t send guild mail to announce it.
At our Xmas guild party, we had gifts for everyone and couldn’t send them during event because of message suppression.

Ive had the same darn kitten message every time I look for a group for an event, like you suggested it’s pretty darn frustrating because you simply can’t look for anymore people…

I don’t think i’m doing anything ethically wrong by posting this (since the gold sellers already know this) but message suppression triggers more frequently if you say the exact same phrase twice in a row (or otherwise frequently) that’s why gold sellers attach a bunch of random gibberish to their messages as a way to trick the message suppression algorithm.

So change it up a little bit, like by changing your wording when LFG/LFM. I can see why ANet would keep it in, like by preventing other people advertising (like their guild) from spamming the chat perhaps by using a hotkey or something, but you can get around it easily enough and it becomes not as much of a problem once you do.
