The upgrades for the traits cost too much. As it is now I probably never plan on unlocking tier 3 for any of my characters because it costs 2 freaking gold. I know of other people that don’t plan on unlocking tier 3.

Or perhaps the cost wouldn’t be as much of an issue if there weren’t so many gold sinks in the game.

I’m not a farmer or anything, and I did not have a lot of problems getting the 1g and 2g books. I also craft and play normally (even WvW where I actually lose money). So I do not think it needs a change, and it’s a one time only kind of investment.

Personal opinion only. I’m sure Anet has numbers showing the amount of gold people have at all levels.

it is quite lot at time but once you get to 70+ areas you can get that money in couple seconds with bit of luck.
well ok in couple seconds requires uite good luck and doesnt happen that often but it doesn’t take too long .

i wouldn’t think it needs to be lowered at all, every time i reached a new trait book level i always had more then enough money to buy it. Perhaps you just need to be more conservative of yours. By level 60 i had about 4 gold simply from quests and selling the few items i didn’t salvage. Keep in mind this was before trading post was online/working, so its even more easy to make that money by 11/40/60 now.

At lower levels, you arn’t supposed to see 2-3g easily. Wait till you reach 70-80 areas, and do dungeons regularly, and you will see 2g is nothing. Just be wise with your gold and always, keep 1g reserved in your bank incase you run out and need wp money or food money.

I don’t have any problem with the books, stop salvaging for a while and start selling the junk you get, I get around 1.2 silver per weapon or armor piece I sell so not that bad at all.
