Few weeks ago, I’ve made legendary shield. I must say I don’t feel happy about it. It’s quite opposite. I feel disappointed and I feel that I lost time and effort to construct this item. Why? All my friends with legendary weapons (greatswords, longbow, staff) have some cool-looking effect, like glowing footsteps, glowing eyes or glowing whole character. I have nothing! Shield doesn’t even glow when it’s not in character’s hand. Can you tell me if you’re going to somehow update legendary shield’s look? Because it is unfair in comparison to other legendary weapons. It would be great if you added some glowing footsteps or any cool visual effect which will distinguish this legendary item among others.

Shields are considered armor (literally, even though it’s in the weapon category), so they only go up to exotic currently iirc. Only actual Legendary grade has effects.

The shield looks great, it’s one of the few very detailed legendaries. The blue glow and the air that blurs around the shield is really nice, but that’s only the shield. Flameseeker prophecies, but also some other legendaries lack effects like footsteps. Scepter, mace and shortbow don’t have footsteps either, while the offhand torch rodgort has lava footsteps.

So ya, the shield, but also other legendaries need some work. Hopefully Anet has plans to improve some legendaries.

Actually, in game shields are considered as weapons.

And you might want to go look up The Flameseeker Prophecies. It’s a Legendary tier weapon.

I think a trail of pages flying off while you’re running would be pretty cool.

When I searched the trade market for legendary tier shields, there were none. I had “Show available only” unchecked.

That just means that currently nobody has put The Flameseeker Prophecies up for sale. It is a Legendary just like the Bifrost, Twilight, Incinerator etc.

That just means no one has tried to sell it on the trade post.

The wiki clearly states that there is a legendary shield. I also think the OP can probably tell if the shield’s rarity says legendary or not.

@OP, while I see your point, I agree with some of the other posters that there are other legendaries in dire need of renovation before they look at the shield.

I think the shield is one of best looking legendary’s.

Hopefully in time, people will have a chance at a legendary that they like. Unfortunately your time isn’t now.

I’m happy to know that the shield doesn’t leave footprints. I wish all legendary weapons have the ability to turn the footprints on or off, because personally, I think the footprints are ugly. The greatswords should have some sort of effect like the necro skill (don’t know which one) which leaves a green trail, the Rodgort focus should have something like that blurry effect around your character that appears when you watch above heated object like campfires or heated roads, the longbow should grow grass or something when the character is standing still etc.

This way legendary weapons would be more unique. Just my two cents.

Gotta agree with Luffy, they need more variation.

Frostfang should change your shadow to ice and keep the ice under your feet at all times. The icefootprints, while cool, leave somethign to be desired.

Personally I think the profecies should cause pages to fly around your character when you actively use a shield skill.

The greatswords should have no ground based effects at all, only trails.

Rogdort, the torch, should give off light twice the normal for a torch.

Small touches and slight shifts in effects create more uniqueness. As for the shield seeming less legendary than others, I disagree…I find it to be one of the best looking legendaries in the game. Most of those footstep effects are incredibly tacky.

What are you smoking? The shield has amazing effects, the pages on tomb turn, blue shimmering stuff around the tomb, some more blue glow and a pulsing aigis effect. I was literally in awe when i saw this shield and its now on my legendairy to do list for my guardian.
