It would be really cool to see new professions in GW2, like marksman or builder or other professions. Marksman could be essentially like a engineer with a rifle, but be able to shoot a target at like 3500 (dont know what range unit is in game), but only be able to attack like once every 45 seconds and have like 100 damage on the one shot, and take 15 seconds of no interruption to take the shot, and make the shot highly visible to anyone around, like make the shot a huge white line visible for like 30 seconds from where the shot was taken to where it hit, and have the marksman only have enough damage to take maybe 15-20% of your health off every 45 seconds, and have the marksman be able to shoot a couple different kinds of shots, with maybe only 50 damage on those shots but give a status condition, none that could slow or stop an enemy though, and give the marksman the ability to use a sword or something so he can defend himself when he is not in a long range engagement. another balance that could be made would be time that it would take the shot to reach the target, like for a 3000 meter shot it would take 3 seconds for the shot to arrive at the target and the target would have that long to move out of the way, and the marksman would have limited use of leading a target to hit a moving target at range
With monsters that spawn naturally, it would have to be balanced so the marksman could not kill a monster without the monster being able to agro on them and come attack them

For a builder class, a class with low offensive capabilities but very high defensive capabilities, like having a builder able to build walls or traps or towers to hide in, to defend himself or an area, or be able to build turrets, like an engineer, but not have the ability to use elixir’s and kits like an engineer and not have the opportunity to use any kind of ranged weapon and only have access to short range weapons like swords and such. there would have to be a different weapon set specific to builders, so the builder could build something, but it would be a very interesting class to see, a highly defensive class with nearly no offensive capability

another profession that would be interesting to see would be a summoner class, like a class able to keep pets like a ranger, but have the ability to summon lesser elementals like a elementalist, or summon undead allies like a necromancer. a summoner could be balanced by giving it a set number of summons, similar to a mesmers illusions, but give the summoner limited offensive capability and leave its offensive power to its allies it can summon

if you think this is a terrible idea, please tell me so i can delete this topic so suggestions wont get clogged up with my crap ideas

What? Play Necromancer or Ranger and then see if “everything is balanced”. Those two professions are arguably the worst in the game right now.

As for the professions you made up…
Marksman: Make Thieves be able to wield Rifles. They would make for a sniper-like profession.
Implement skills like http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ebon_Vanguard_Sniper_Support (Without the added damage vs Charr of course.)
You do not however have to make an all new profession for one with sniper-like capabilities!

Builder: Not such a bad idea. Sounds a lot like an Engineer, but with less offensive capabilities. But I do not think it’s worth getting into the game. Anet has stated themselves that they do not wan’t professions with specific roles, and this one has a specific role! I would more like a Battle Mage-like profession as the third heavy armor class, or else you might want to see this idea from this post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Heavy-Up-the-Engineer-Yes-another-one/first

I actually want to add the Monk as a new profession. Not like the one back in the first GW. It can be a profession that is a mix of Engineer or Elementalist(The kit feature or attunements but it will be called Martial Style), Necromancer or Warrior( The Life force bar or Adrenaline bar, but it will be called Ki bar) and has a limited amount of weapons, mainly the Sword(Dual-wieldable), Staff(As an AoE melee weapon for them) and daggers(Ranged throwing weapons). It can use either light or medium armor, not the heavy.(Although they would have to create a new type of light armor to make it look like Chinese monk clothing.) I prefer medium.

The styles allow you to access a set of skill that you can use with Ki to perform. At least 5 bars of Ki and the new skills use a certain amount depending on the skill. An example would be “Dragon Style” a pure offensive Style that can cause burning, considered a “rush down-single target style” the “extra abilities”(Like the tool kits) are Ki blasts or fireballs.

More I deas to come later.

I would love to see a “Ying and Yang” sort of class.

You get 2 “Modes” Light and Dark (F1-4skills decide what you are in) each one has a unique kind of look. Dark for example could be similar (but better lol) as DeathShroud look of the Necromancer

Light “mode” would be a sort of Mix between Ele Dagger/Dagger gameplay – Fast, Mobile support. has great support and boon help.

Dark “mode” would be a Guardian/Warrior sort of heavy juggernaut sort mode. Takes damage, alot of damage, slow, slow but boy can he hit hard.

You would get a “Life Force” sort of bar that fills more and more depending on the “Mode” you are in and once you have filled the bar with one of them you can use a Modfe specific skill, different based on the weapons you are using.

F1 = Light Mode
F2 = Dark Mode
F3 = Light Mode Skill
F4 = Dark Mode Skill

Weapons would have different skills based on the mode you are in and would be VASTLY different

do you have any idea how incredibly overpowered a class that could be a heavy class AND a light class? that would be the most overpowered class in the game, i dont agree with the monk idea but i do kinda like the idea of the theif being able to wield rifles and be like marksman, only if they have long range and significant factors to keep them from being too powerful

the idea i had about marksman after i posted this was possibly theifs/engineers could use a new set of rifles, exclusively for long range, and rangers could use a crossbow or something, with not as long of a range as the rifle, but a slightly higher rate of fire.

my reasoning behind the builder class was a class more geared towards defense, as there isnt really a class geared towards defense in the game currently, most classes are geared towards DPS and a couple towards group buff effects (like the guardian and elemental). the most defensive ability i have seen so far is the focus skill the mesmer gets that makes the wall that cripples enemies, the guardian skill that makes a line enemies cannot cross, and the elemental earth skill that makes a line that cripples enemies when they cross it. my idea that we need a class that can block a area for atleast a minute or two so it becomes possible to defend a area, not by killing all the enemies but stopping them from entering in the first place, possibly by having a bar like life force, but like material level, the player could gain material by picking up wood and stone and such around the world and from his broken builds.

It WOULDN’T be a heavy and light class. I meant it would be kinda like a mix between say D/D ele in “Light” mode with it being like guardian in Dark mode. They would wear the same armor, i would say heavy as that isnt the same number as the others which have 3 each.
