I would just like to say that i think it would be nice to have mounts one day. They may not be needed do to being able to travel through portals, but it would ad to the fun of the game to have ur own mount even if just for show. Would like to see comment and know who agrees or disagrees. thanks for your time

There have been hundreds of topics about this since the game launched. A.net thus far is of the opinion that mounts and flying mounts are not necessary for the game world and I am in full agreement. We have asura waypoints for fast travel purposes, flying mounts and regular mounts would make no sense.

Also I don’t think there actually is a race of creatures within Tyria that can be used as a flying mount.

The broom mount is for sale in the GS. I have one and I sit on it at the AH trader:P

It would be cool if there were stables in the major cities and you have to walk to the stables and talk to a stablemaster to open a mount tab, then you would be able to mount a mount you have collected.

Mounts should only be usable in major cities for show off, and should walk as fast as the character normaly would.

To aquire mounts I would like to see some sort of hidden events you find all over the world, lets say you help the charr save some dragon babies from a flooded cave, as a reward you get a dragon egg in your inventory. After a week this dragon egg hatches into a dragon mount, that you store in your stables

Other ways to aquire would be if you found a wild champion animal on a lets say mountain peak, now you have to defeat the champion before you can tame it, and collect it

This is really getting beyond a joke.

We’re not going to get mounts as long as the asura waypoint system is within the game. You can have one or the other but you can’t have both. So by all means if you’d like to have to run on your mount (they won’t introduce flying mounts as it would trivialize certain jumping puzzles/vista access) from Lions Arch to Orr by all means continue to propose mounts.

People aren’t thinking this through properly.

1) Nobody cares that their are waypoints. That’s not the issue.
2) Everybody will still use the waypoints even when there are mounts. Normal.
3) Mounts are cool. Simple. It looks and feels amazing to be atop a beast of war.
4) Mounts should provide a movement increase. It’s just idiotic for this not to be the case—How much of an increase is completely irrelevant at this point in time.
5) Nobody needs dye on their armour, nobody needs flame coming from the eyes of their helmet. But hey, it looks and feels great. Stop the “need” argument already.

If there were more mounts in the GS like the broom mount it would be fine. I here tons of people hating on mounts, but none hating on the broom mount that is already in the game. (like the mop) :P

Now if A.Net wants to add a horse/moa/dolyak which is exactly the same as the broom in the sense that it only changes how you move around and not the speed in which you move, that I can agree with. But this thread isn’t about vanity, it’s about speed and getting around the world faster, and we already move fast enough without them.

He says even if it’s just for show it would be ok. So the OP is willing to accept mounts just for show (as are most people). I think a lot people here need to calm down and really read what he said. No one is forcing you to reply to this thread you all made your self do it.

I have seen hundreds, literally hundreds, of people quote the Anet team stating “NO” to flying mounts. Cosmetic non-movement speed mounts sure but seriously reply to the hundreds of other posts about this kitten. Stop reposting this ridiculous over-posted topic.

Either way the op suggested flying mounts which cannot in anyway be added due to how the zones are made. The edges end in a abyss simply leading to impossible air travel, so no to air mounts in any form or fashion unless future zones filled these gaps but airship’s would be better than some silly flying moa. No matter what, no to flying mounts and no to any sort of mounts with a movement speed greater than or equal to 33% movement speed bonus.

Yes, but no speed increase is better. Flying is out of the question for sure, Anet came out and said it. There’s no need to worry about flying mounts, so there is no need to reply to that part, only perhaps to notify him (which has been done).

What I see is threads locked down cause someone gets angry at another poster and reports them or that someone did not use the search feature and reports the thread as a repeat thread.
I am tired of the repeats myself. I would like a sticky up top for all the repeat topic threads to have a home for and so they can have continued discussion, and maybe not get locked for non civil comments.

Anet has said that putting mounts into the game would give the illusion of the world being smaller with less paying attention to the detail, that’s one of the last things Anet needs right now.

How so? Pro mount people have suggested that the only way possible to get a legitimate mount would be it a reward for 100% map completion.
Whats the difference in running ikittenerg at 33% speed or riding a mount at 33% speed? That’s like saying if you drop a 10 pound brick and a 10 pound bag of feathers at the same time which will hit the ground first.
Please share the link to that statement about the illusion, so I can read that from the source.

Why should all dragon’s be considered evil in this game? For a fantasy based game, this one really doesn’t have much creativity. Nor a lot of grandeur or magic to it. It’s "Grunt… grunt… I kill… I kill… " Wp to the next kill zone.

Instead, how about add something magical, whimsical, and fun! Being able to use a mount sounds like FUN! Even if it’s just within an instance or particular zone only. I’d bet if you make a second village/city like LA with mounts, people would flock to it. Make it something like Divinity’s Reach but, more pristine, bright, and lush with greenery. A White Citadel type of city with flying and riding mounts. Sounds awesome to me!

You have to admit, the designers went for a dark and morbid visual quality in most area. Some odd blend of tribal, steam punk, and deathThey should watch some Final Fantasy 13 videos for design inspiration.

I’m curious, I’ve asked this before and never really got an answer. I personally don’t care either way whether we get mounts or not, but I keep seeing the same nay arguments. There’s the “We don’t need this” argument. That’s sort of a stupid argument because you don’t /need/ flaming armor, collectibles section of the bank, tonics that turn you in to cats, etc. etc. The need argument is void because what we need and don’t need have little to do with how much fun something can be. The other argument is, “It makes the world feel smaller/too fast, etc.” I’m a warrior with a warhorn and signet of rage. That gives me 100% uptime on 33% speed boost. When traited into the warhorn, I can stack my speed boost up to 2 minute duration, and neither the signet nor the warhorn’s speed boost have >2 minute cooldown. That is literally 100% uptime on the 33% speed boost. My ranger has permanent out of combat 10% speed boost, and I believe almost every class has that option somehow through traits or signets or the like. And aside from that, many classes can keep permanent or near permanent 33% speed buffs on theirselves and in some cases, allies. Aside from cosmetic only if I were moving 33% faster on the back of a dolyak, would it matter? No. I already move that fast. Speed argument = null. Are there any better arguments to why a cosmetic mount that moves 10-33% faster is a bad idea? Anyone can get the free speed boosts in any major city that last 4 minutes and the places to get them are always near. So even there, you already move faster.

Flying mounts on the other hand would basically destroy the entire vista/exploration system. Getting somewhere faster already happens, some people just want it done on the back of a mount instead of with a sigil or trait, no changes occur to gameplay or travel in this instance. Flying basically ruins exploration entirely no matter how fast it is. You can’t expect to fly up to a vista.

Well, they could’ve been locked for non civil comments… Or just because everyone, including the moderators, are sick and tired of hearing the same arguments for and against.
Frankly, I think it is the latter. Then again, I might be wrong.
But what good does it do to start another thread about a suggestion that devs have already heard? (A few hundred times I might add.)

I want a black horse that can share in my adventures. I want to give it a name and be the bestest friends.
I want to be able to buy it different bridles and plait it’s tail if I want to.

This game is all about cosmetics. I don’t want a speed boost that would take me away from the beautiful world. I just want a beautiful horse.
Is it so much to ask? :’(

As an asura, I do not wish anyone to stomp over me with a dolyak, or even worse, shove a dolyaks behind on my face while I am using the merchant / bltc, talking to a NPC, go afk for a few minutes, ect. ect.
Is that too much to ask?

Stop making these threads. You’re picking at the bones of a long dead topic. Nobody wants mounts— No, I’m mistaken, nobody with half a brain to see what they do to a game or knows a kitten thing about GW2’s design wants mounts. Nobody cares. Stop making these threads.
