they are already taking up 3 inventory slots (2 if I put one on) on each char. They were put into GW1 for exactly the same reason as why there needs to be one here.

agreed here, its not much now, but it will get very messy over events, especially for ones that we have bought from the stores that we cant get again for free.

considering that we probably will have a thanksgiving event of some sort we can expect 2-3 more hats by the end of the year

Basically in GW1, there’s a npc that registers the item you are wearing on you and unlocks them for your account, then you can freely discard such item and re-summon it (at a small price, like 10 copper in GW2’s currency) and you can get another one.

But then how would they sell bag / bank slots?

The amount of town clothes and hats is already taking up way too much space in my bank. I really hope they add this feature just like in GW1.
