Q:
new editions to boost game play
So, what’s your question?
weapon dye and mounts with little more speed than walking would be cool. Mount just for looking cool it self are worth it. as for bikini not sure, so as for companion, i run every thing solo and haven o problems with it, i avoid every group event as time consumed vs reward usefulness time is just bad, so i don’t want time on meaningful content like that.
1) I think “That would be useful…”
Until I think about anytime there is already other people around, especially world bosses, and consider what it would be like if that number doubled from everyone’s companion NPCs running around. That’s a scary world.
2) When you say 10% faster than running, is that 10% faster than with swiftness or without?
3) I don’t know if it’s at all feasible, but I’m sure there are a lot of creative options if they ever do implement these. I’m not sure how nice they’d look, but…
4) Personally, I think we’re in a good place with balancing revealing and more conservative armor. I don’t mind them adding more, since the armor they do add usually seems on the conservative side, but I hope it’s not quite as revealing as that, or for all armor classes. It would be so popular.
1. So you want heroes which killed personal interaction in GW1? Um, no.
2. If you want mounts play WoW. We just need cheaper waypoints.
3. I think the weapon designs are fine the way they are. Twilight wouldn’t be twilight it it was hot pink.
4. If you want to see pixel boobs strip you female character.

Brave Mallyki, brings up few good points, there. however, coloring weapons should only be available for general weapons with bad cosmetic look. Now the WoW argument, This is not WoW, WoW wasn’t first to invent mounts either. Mounts were used by people long before age of Internet, there absolutely nothing wrong with introducing ground mounts to GW2. I want to see my cool char sitting on even cooler wolf like mount, that dropped of world boss, this boasts my epin and there absolutly nothing WoWish about it.
This game will never be like WoW, however few successful elements could be taken from WoW, for example PvE gear progression, Pugable raids and mounts.
There is no reason to surrender a good, already proven, successful elements just because it’s taken from WoW or for that mater any other Game.
When ATM machines were invented, Citi bank didn’t say “yo, we wont implement ATM machines because we’ll resemble Chase bank!”, they implemented it, because it was good, convenient and successful element, not because “we’ll look like Chase now” thing.

Raids and gear grind are only used by WoW and WoW-likes to siphon off monthly subs from players by bringing in an artificial grind. GW2 does not need any of that.
uknortherner, i understand your concern, i didn’t meant to ask ANET to bring in WoW like raids the way they are.
The raids i see in GW2 would be some thing like dragon fights, also on timber, without subscription fees. The raids with gear bound to the raid event, few bosses rather than one and with a little more mechanic. That would be the raid in GW2 how i see it and it’s not the WoW like raid.
The only way it wouldn’t be grindy is if the gear tied to raids are cosmetic skins only, rather than a new tier of gear carrying higher stats, otherwise it’s just another vertical gear grind with gated entry, and there’s already enough gear elitism in this game as it is (PUGs).
uknortherner, well cosmetic gear is of course good, but cosmetic is a little not enough. if gear is bad looking for that mater, no one will go and do the Raid zone. You need another carrot to bring people there. I do agree it shouldn’t turn into gear grind like WoW for higher stats, however if another carrot wont be invented to bring people into the zone, dungeon, raid, those places will die out. If new carrot wont be invented than ANET will be forced to implement vertical gear progression for PvE, or zones will die out, than the game (except it’s pvp element).
Like your suggestions! Signed*
I know mounts aren’t a WoW invention. They were invent by Nintendo in Ocarina of Time. Jk. But seriously, what’s the point of jumping on a mount to hop off to fight, as some people have suggested noncombatant mounts or not being able to fight while on the mount , or to harvest log, cooking mats, or ore, don’t know of anybody that can chop down a tree or mine ore while on horseback. There are swiftness buffs if you aren’t pleased with them then buy a full set of superior rune of the traveler for a permeant speed buff.

I’d like too see in a future update
( 1 ) Companions, like the mercenaries in GW1 that are level 80 from your own account, or a premade companion that you can customize, bought from the Black Lion – that can be customized, like the weapons and armor, and that can carry bags = this would be extremely helpful and useful, for players like me that mostly run solo.( 2 ) Mounts, this would add a realism to the game. I like walking around and enjoying the scenery of the game, but sometime walking is too slow and running isn’t real enough. ( really think about it would u run every where you need to go, to work, to the store, across country?) the GW2 map is expanding and this would be a great way to get around and still be able to enjoy the scenery and dynamics of the game on each map you go through, with just a small speed boost, like maybe 10% faster on walking and running. this could be an item that could be bought in the Black Lion, or could have different mounts for each race.
( 3 ) Dye option for weapons.
( 4 ) More revealing outfits. like a bikini top and loincloth leggings, for light, medium, and heavy armor.
- I don’t think that’s going to happen. After all, everything in the dungeons is available elsewhere.
- It wouldn’t add realism. The waypoint system literally makes mounts obsolete. Why the hell would you use a car if you can teleport?
- I don’t see this happening, at least not for the weapons that people actually care about. I mean, who the heck would buy a Twilight if you could just dye Sunrise to have the same colour and pay less? Basically anything that has a particle effect should never, ever, be dyeable.
- First you argue for realism for mounts, then you want unrealistic armor? Great going on there. How about you try deciding whether it’s realism or fanservice that you want? Because getting both is a big nono.
Brave Mallyki, Even if mounts are purely cosmetic, for the looks it’s still cool. We have dragon wings, but we can’t fly. Mounts will add up to the epin, give cooler look and if they rework speed overall a little they could be fairly usable.
I personally want to see my Char riding the Embraided wolf, just the sexiness alone would bring me to dead content if i could get it as a drop.
(1) I’d like my heroes back, but only for instanced content. They are not needed in the open world. They should be relegated to dungeon ‘henchmen’ essentially.
For those that argue that heroes killed the personal interaction in GW1, there are as many who argue that they did not. All heroes did was give those that were more inclined to play with hench normally a more reliable version, which they could skill. For the people that stopped pugging to start using heroes, think about what that says about the players. Yes, some people play for the social aspect, but not all.
(2) No mounts. They offer no functionality we don’t already have. They don’t fit with the GW trend. They are also a serious pain in the kitten.
(3) I would like to see the return of some weapons being dyable. That was always fun to play with in GW1. I liked being able to make some of the weapons match my outfit’s color scheme.
(4) I am not against having more armors; however I think we have an ok mix of revealing vs non-revealing. I’d like to see some straight pants for light armors, and some simple short skirts. I’d like a few more non-trenchcoat tops for medium armors, and a few less skirts for heavy.
I think it would be cool to dye our weapons like in GW1. Kasmeer’s staff would look awesome with blue or gold energy instead of the purple on my Guard. And if we wanted to sell the colored weapons on the TP they could just revert back to their original color, so they are fresh for the new owner to do whatever they please to them. And if someone is worried about particle effect weapons being dyed, not all weapons have to have a huge makeover. Maybe just a few color effects along the hilt or the weapon itself, just something to make it your own. I know the Shadow Shield in GW1 wasn’t completely color changed. Only its eyes changed color whenever dye was applied. CoF Armor can be dyed, so why not weapons with something coming off of them? At least on the physical weapon itself. It would be cool.
LanfearShadowflame, As for mounts i think it’s two sided. You say it doesn’t offers any thing essential, so no need to implement it. However even without a speed addition or some thing else like that, i would like to have a mount purely to boast my epin.
So what we have now? you say no mounts, but i want mounts to give me a better cosmetic look while i sit in LA, or just traveling without speed boost through Tyria.
So if it’s implemented and doesn’t offers any purpose or essential element some oen like you wont get it, wont farm for it. Some one like me, who wants his Charr sit on good looking beast to show off will get one.
There no reason not to add them, those who don’t want them simply wont get one and those who do, will get them. That’s it! you will be happy with mounts or without since you wont get them any ways, and i will be happier with a month if i can get one. Why would you deprive me of that happiness? Specially that you wont care any wyas since you wont get one.
The developers can uses their time far better than wasting it on creating mounts. They need to use it adding to the story of GW2. There are regions and continents to open up, races to interact with, and more weapon skill diversity within the class.

(1) Companions could be nice. Feels like there could be a pretty big balancing issue with them though. But having more things to customize for my character is always fun for me.
(2) Please god no. Just no. Mounts are a terrible idea for this game. With the exception of Mesmers, all the characters move fast enough around IMO, and there are too many people who just run through everything and go from point A to point B without actually experiencing what they are going through, which is more than half of the fun of this game. The game is meant to be experienced as a whole, not just dash for the next loot drop. That’s why so much effort is put into things like jumping puzzles and vistas. So please, for the love of the 6 gods, just no.
(3) I’m torn on dye options for weapons. I like the idea quite a bit most of the time, but then again, I don’t think it should be available for the weapons with more particle effects, stuff with flames and sparkles and whatnot. I kind of like getting a cool new weapon, then changing my look to go with it. But meh, that’s just me.
(4) Heh. Sure, why not?
Actually, I rescind that support. I think it’s a terrible idea as well, it’s just exploitative, and there is already some pretty revealing stuff out there. I mean, look at the medium human cultural for females, you’ve got freaking underboob! That’s a bit much to me. If I wanna see bare bodies, I’ll go somewhere else, thank you.
Brave Mallyki, So far ANET is not doing any thing constructive asides from crappy living world events. The talents need revamp, dead zones need to be reanimated and so on. They need to fix and return lasting appeal to what’s there now, instead of developing new staff in the old manner. Cosmetic mounts are quick and easy addition which can be done within a month by just 2 people from their development team. They will make some of us happy, those that want them, those who doesn’t, aren’t forced to get one.
I will agree that they are spinning their wheels with living stories but I wholeheartedly disagree that mounts are the way to go to rejuvenate the game.

Mounts alone wont do it, however for cosmetic reason they would be a nice little addition just like those wings we got now.
