alright its fairly obvious but theres one glaring difference between guild wars 1 and guild wars 2.

gw 1 wasnt perfectly balanced but it almost was.

anyway guild wars 2 has npc monsters that you simply cant counter with every class. theres knockdowns you cant stop granted theres blind and block but those arent spammable for every class. these same npcs sometimes have frenzy and are immune to control effects like fear and stun…. wtf?! is that really balanced? how do you beat that thing other than to go toe to toe with it? or kite. in which case skill selection doesnt matter. give us more choices and more counters for every class.

also when im stunned feared ect… not every class can counter that either. wtf where is the skill in that? seems to me more like a “just ride these things out” strategy. give more conditions if you must so that a player has to choose their counters and offensive effects carfully. but dont just make things unavoidable its annoying and isnt fun. you should release a patch with 10 more types of weapons per class even though some would be interchangable obviously. or… you could make the selected skills more powerful providing counters to knockdown blind ect until the class can cope with every situation.
and keep in mind these would have to be counters that when coupled with evade would be permanent counters. not just “cant be knocked down for 4 seconds 30 second cooldown” well great so i dodge twice then im at the mercy of a kd spamming npc or npc’s yes plural. then get smacked around the map because my only counter is to run… but oh right they run faster because combat run has be kittenen nerfed. figure your game out. that isnt fun if it cant be countered. if it could then its my fault. but it cant. and also make a weapon slot for every available weapon if i am expected to use every single weapon for given situations. think about it.

Agree, the difficulty (if you can call it that) in this game comes from the BS stuff that NPC’s can do

This is an MMO, welcome to games where NPC’s are capable of doing things you are not.

Yes, you either ride the storm out or kite. If you aren’t keeping a ranged weapon on every class for that purpose you are failing to utilize everything the class has to offer. You complaining because you don’t have a skill to counter them is showing your lack of skills. Kite something that moves faster than you do and is unsnarable (yes it is possible and have done so repeatedly on multiple classess) shift your expectations into buffing you and instead make use of everything your class has to offer. Yes, this means you will be using weapons you aren’t built to utilize to the fullest to take down an enemy or two.

Using a specific skill to counter an ability is not skill, it is lazy mechanics that limits the build you can use. If frenzy had a specific counter to it, then to kill those creatures you would be required to use that skill, no matter what your play style you would have to have that skill as the game is balanced with that in mind. Instead the game is balanced to force you to be flexable, less on skill selection and more about using varied weapons (melee/range , dps/tank , dps/support).

There is no difficulty in games where you must use a specific skill to counter something. This game uses flexability and the fact we can dodge. If you still find enemies unkillable, shift your build away from glass cannon styles.
