I don’t think that I have to say too much here, in my opinion downscaling is bad and makes playing lower level zones FAR too easy

2 clips to demonstrate what I mean:

You can literally stand afk and let your passive skills / autoattack skills do the rest.

These are older clips, but I haven’t seen big changes that adress this ingame If there’s ever going to be zone progression, please tweak downscaling so that fighting is as fun as during the leveling phase.

Levels are a stupid mechanic that should never have been in GW2 in the first place. Downscaling and sidekicking tackle some of the major downsides of having levels, but also result in many other issues.

Unfortunately, they cant really change downscaling because otherwise the zones will be too hard for low level players (who do not have access to any rare/exotic/ascended quality equipment).

REMOVE LEVELS!

So you’re saying that you should be down-scaled even further?

Not completely sure I agree with that… down scaling is a great thing, but if you’re being down-scaled 60 levels and still have level 80 gear against a level 20 mob it should be notably easier than if you’re level 20 wearing rags and scraps you picked up along the way. I think the balance is pretty good, maybe a slight bit more down-scaling wouldn’t hurt, but not so much as to completely negate the fact that you’re an 80 in a 20 zone (for example).

levels are fine, I just think the stats of your gear should get downscaled a lot more. Yes, there should be a difference between a badly geared lv.20 and a well geared lv.80 – but the current state is ridiculous. VOLKON, have you watched the clips above? If so, how can you be proud of anything you do in low level zones once you’ve outleveled them? (outleveled – a word I thought wouldn’t exist in GW2 anymore, when thinking of backscaling)

I mean… why scale the characters back at all, when there is no difference between a lv.80 and a backscaled lv.80? What more than one/two-shot can you do to an enemy?

I think the player stats are the problem, rather than the level you’re downleveled to. When I go into an area where my character is downleveled, my stat totals still seem really high compared to when I was leveling.

IMO, if a player is scaled down to level 10, then their stats should be scaled down to be equivalent to a level 10 player wearing level 10 gear.

Exotic gear is 13% better than rare gear if I remember correctly – but there is no exotic gear at those low levels. Wouldn’t it be enough (or too much also) to scale the weapon to the same level as the character, but only as an exotic version of a lv.10 weapon (as example)?

If they downscale gear to much no one will go back to these lower level zones for anything, there is nothing in higher level zones worth killing for loot, as its all been removed,

Also in doing this, it still allows newer players to get help from a higher level person, as some areas are tricky, skill points etc,

Oh god… Are you even serious? Vertical progression hate is going absurd on this forum…

PS. Remove VP from the game = resolve hunger issue on the world!

Getting people out of the lower level zones…I really don’t see that as a bad thing. There is still good loot in the higher-level zones, it’s just that the starter zones are ridiculously easy, so that’s where most people go. I doubt the Queensdale champ train would even see much of a change, considering that running as a zerg trivializes everything anyway.

Having two people fighting a mob is enough of an advantage for people to help each other. The downleveled character doesn’t need the extra stats to make it even easier. I refuse to believe that 2-shotting mobs is how the content was intended to be played.

honestly i like the downscalling at some times but at times i dont wanna have a zerg of mobs chasing me while im running through a low level zone (even though it be easy to destroy them just lazy)

would like an option to turn it off whenever i felt like where mobs that are 5 or more levels below you when you have scaling turned off will just ignore you until you attack them or they wonder into your AoE. EXP will not be earned from mobs 5 levels or more lower then you (or the EXP earned will be so insignificant that its a waste of time) to prevent people from attempting to power level by going to an area with a lot of low leveled mobs that respawn quickly. items dropped from the mobs(again 5 levels or more lower then you) will be less frequent and generally the same level the mob was instead of your level. any heart that has progression based on killing mobs will not progress from kills if the “5 or more levels below you” condition applies

while mostly for casuals who just want to go from point A to point B without mobs chasing them everywhere, RP-wise this opens up many more places to be used other then easily cleared areas or towns/cities.

I agree. The whole world should be viable content via downscaling imho.
