I think that the current system of transportation is pretty good but lacks some finesse.
The problem lies in the lack of some strategic (free) traveling hubs and how they operate.
We have the heart of the mists, the 6 city’s and fort trinity, but these locations are too random in my opinion when it comes to a traveling network.
A:The heart of the mist is annoying, just give us a simular button to go to Lion’s Arch directly. This is less annoying for pvp-ers where us pve-ers are gatecrashing their staging zone and less annoying for the pve-ers too cause we can skip a loading screen.
B: beside the orders-portal make a 4th portal from lion’s arch to fort trinity (only accesable when you’ve done the battle of fort trinity). nobody wants to run through a low level area just to reach a portal.
C: Add simular hubs (portal from LA to that location) in a few strategic points (again with personal storyline requirements). They should be in otherwise hard to reach places. Some possible locations:
- Murdered Dreams Waypoint in cursed shores (only after completing storyline ‘kill Zhaitan)
- Earthshake basin in frostgorge sound (only after completing temple of the forgotten God and a special extra quest you get an email for, e.g. kill the claw of Jormag). (note that this is also directly next to fireheart rise for CoF and its near HotW)
This will make reaching these two deserted area’s easier
D: last off all, make a zoning portal between Arca Waypoint in Hithari Hinterlands and Divinity reach (they are next to eachother) If you really want to protect this from low levels make it a smugglers passage for Skritt’s shinies) in an house in divinity’s reach inaccesable for lower levels.
These small additions to the current system would make traveling so much more fun and enjoyable. People can still decide to do the last bit on foot on
This way, every dungeon-entrance is 2 portals or less away from lion’s arch, and every area is max 3 portals away from lion’s arch
