I came across this earlier, but didn’t write it here on the forums yet;

in my opinion, support builds are heavily underrated and under-rewarded in WvW, for example, I had a fight for about 2 hours inside Stonemist, but never got the full reward for defending it every 3 minutes, why? because the strategy we used lies in stopping them in the hallway, where my guardian deals no damage at all due to the lack of proper range damage, as well as I am all the time busy using my shouts to heal allies, buff might etc.
because I dont hit any enemy (except sometimes using wall of reflection, if there is no mesmer reflection or whatever in the way) the event just registeres me as a leecher.

in my opinion it would be great if there would be a mechanic that would also reward support classes running almost full support builds in events like those.

How about, you get a hammer, and spam 2 , boon spread + damage .
Why do you even care about defending SM reward?

Everyone is able to buff/heal themselves. The only difference between you and everyone else is that they are also fighting to defend. If you are only supporting and not fighting while others are doing both, then why should you be getting full reward if you are not fully helping to defend?

How am I suppose to attack when I’m holding a banner so I can use the skills on it and so that if we move the banner moves with us?

I don’t play a warrior so I only have the wiki to see how banners work. They seem to apply buffs even when you’re not holding them. Also the skills you get when holding are attacks. I don’t really see what stopping you from dropping it to fight and then picking it up again. If you lose it then summon another.

And to add another point. I have seen many times that when we wipe a couple times and me and another guild mate go full support we wipe much less. So I ask you, if I keep people alive so they can kill other people how am I not being just as useful as them?

Banners also grant health regen if Ur speced into them. To fully spec healing banners means u have to have a what is almost a tank spec with very little damage abilities. Also skill 2 on healing banner is a nice Aoe heal

I said every player can buff themselves. Anything you throw out that affects others is a bonus and no player should be relying on someone else’s buffs to survive.

The benefit on having a support player is that instead of everyone needing to spec some self survival they can go full dps. Most supports are tanks anyways so they will die last as it is. It provides for higher group dps

Guardian empower gives 2550 power, 2550 condition damage and 7500 healing. I consider that skill alone to be a decent support buff.

While necros don’t have quite the support that warriors and guardians have they still have some good stuff. They also deal way more damage

last i checked a full 25 stacks of might is only +875 and 25 is the max….. so how does 12 stacks of might (only given to a max of 5 people btw) give over 2k power and condition damage

I think he’s multiplying the stacks of might by power given by people affected.
12 stacks of might = 12×35×5=2100

the main reason i believe anet doesnt give people credit for full support no damage though is afk’ers spamming skills

wouldnt it kitten you off waiting 20 min to get into eb. come around to defend stonemist and find 1-10 afk empower spammin guardians sitting around the lord

Basicly what most guards have to do in a SM lord room stand off anyways…hahaha. or the guards can bust out their wicked ranged mace dps (/cower).

What if you got credit for kills based n your party killing the target enemy’s?

Skill should prevail over numbers…in theory

Empower gives 12 stacks of might. 1 stack of might gives 35 power and 35 condition damage. 12 × 35 = 420. I believe its applied to yourself and 5 other players from what I can see (possibly more but its hard to check without a group to sandbox but it seems like Im seeing more people than 5 getting healed). It would be at least 2500 power and 2500 condition damage + a heal.

A banner warrior should really not complain about the lack of rewards…
You spec into banners, so you can still have a benefit from your utility skills while using a siege weapon.
Drop banner → grab an arrow cart or a ballista
Also, stronger bowstrings is in the same trait line. Drop banner → take out longbow → fire field → profit!
And befoee you say anything, I brought a warrior to 80 using full tactics spec, I know what I’m talking about.
Fire field with bow → arcing arrow(blast) → banner(blast) → banner(blast) = massive might stacks. Btw banner 5(plant) is a blast finisher too.
Also, for the active effects, your allies can use them too. It’s not like only you have to cycle through all banners to trigger their effects.
Use the longbow to get some shots out.
