suggestion for gameplay
Secondandly I guess I misunderstood the dynamics events (aka warhammer public events) I thought it was a persistant evolving world, I was really looking forward to that aspect of the game, I didn’t realise it was only in the event (bummer) World changing events can be a fun thing, a one time boss, or limited dungeon that each player can only go in once and die once and then it’s closed.
Third, something to make the community feel like they are a part of that, I thought this game was going to have some semi-open sandbox elements to it, but sadly there is none, player housing, guild housing is a huge bonus to making a strong community, like EQ, UO, AC1 AC2, ect…
Fourth, bring the pvp action to the pve aspect of the game, rvr on your realm, not this going to another area to do battle, horrible idea, granted it helps with lag, but it’s just not realistic, why am I fighting for something that really in the grand scheme of things isn’t in front of me to protect. Make it worth something to fight for, I love pvp, I love PVP, I was hoping this was going to be a better warhammer.
Just going to address the above.
To have events, bosses, or dungeon only happen once and never again, and if you died during the event and that ended it for you on the spot, would not be fun at all. I understand what you are trying to say/go with this, but it would not bode well in action. It would just be frustrating and defeating IMO. Plus, costly and time consuming to continuely have to create new content to only be used once…..Just wouldn’t make sense.
Maybe something more like what I remember in EQ2, where some dragon or big guy would spawn at some random location. And guilds would race each other to try and tag it first. Then the other guilds would stand around watching and waiting/hoping for that guild to fail. In which case the other guilds would then continue the race to tag until finally one of them beat it. Now it could be weeks or even months before that epic mob would spawn again, and it would spawn in some other random location. But people would have another chance at it.
But I do like the basis of your idea, just make them repeatable on a random time table.
On to your 3rd point, the game is new, and ANET has plenty of content in the form of content updates and expansions where they will add new things, and maybe some of the things you listed will be in them. Time will tell.
With the 4th, it would need to be done in a considerate manner, because not everyone will want to be forced to pvp in an open world. Make certain areas pvp(e). Like when you cross that invisible line, an alert will pop up saying “you are entering a pvp area, you will be flagged in X seconds.” That way it will give a player time to decide if they want to continue or turn back.
Because sometimes people just want to sit back and pve. Others days, they may charge right into that area ready for some pvp action. There can be more balance that way I think.
