survey: would u buy map completion items?
This is kind of silly, dont you think?

hmmm how?
I can’t see selling items to not play the game. I have to agree, it seems kind of silly.

well, every now and then, i see people write about how they are forced to enter pvp for pve things etc etc.

I hate WvW and would have loved to have a way to opt out to get my gift of exploration. I would gladly pay 800 gems per map! I suffered through it though and eventually got 100% map completion. I thought the gift of battle was going to be a horrible trial to suffer through then, thankfully, achievement chests came along allowing me to purchase 2 gifts and give a big middle finger to WvW for the rest of my days.
Lol. Every now and then (or more often), I see people write about how they are forced to do almost any aspect of this game. Selling an item in the gem store to bypass any part of the game seems, to me, counterproductive to the point of the game…which is playing it. Just my opinion, of course. =)
No, but that’s only because I like wvw. I’d pay gems to level my crafting professions to 400 though!
Honestly, I can’t really see how one can justify the gameplay to explore 3 identical maps. I still haven’t completed any of the maps despite playing wvw daily simply because I just don’t care about map completion— that I’d imagine is pretty low on many a wvw player’s priorities.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Because having PvE people that don’t care for PvP at all run around in a PvP environment is silly. Adding monetization on top of that would be even worse idea.

I agree. I don’t like WvW at all, don’t care for any form of PvP, but I’d still prefer to map those three (identical) borderlands and EB myself.
No………………………………………………………….

great idea actually.
they get to progress towards their legendaries and anet makes monies from gem sales.
That’s just lazy. No.

Why the hate for wvw, what’s so bad about it?
No more lazy stuff kitten .
Tekkit’s Workshop
convenience items! not lazy!
Why not sell the legendaries for 20k gems? I mean, you can allready buy almost 60% or more of the parts.

hmmm no need.
cos can buy from trading post with gold.
can buy gems and convert them into gold though.
Why the hate for wvw, what’s so bad about it?
Simple. Because there are people in it who kill me while I only want that POI that is a fraction of a second away from being filled. But they won’t allow me to get it.
You’re with a group of 3+, and you are standing on top of a POI. You see a person (alone) walking towards you. No weapons drawn, just running towards that POI.
You:
a) Kill that person before he has a chance to get the POI
b) Let the person get the POI then kill him
c) Let the person get the POI and then get away again.
Chances are most people will go for a.
And that’s why I dislike WvW.
why dun that person bring friends and go together?
if they go kitten people since 5 people is more than 3

I think it’s a pretty worthless idea, the only people stubbornly refusing to do “whatever map they dont like” for map completion obviously dont want the gift enough.
The guise of convenience can be used to sell max achievement, max gear, all skins in the game characters. Keep that in mind when arguing in favor of selling something. Obviously they need you playing to spend more, a one-time purchases of 4000 gems to release you from your OCD-burden and allow yourself to quit the game is not what they want.

I do not like to group up on loners(thiefs not included I hate them). But I would stay in the area, I’ve seen too many people suckered into a thief trap. I do not care about one person doing anything unless he is attacking me/us. Then he has a death wish or likes impossible odds.
But if you are on a higher tier server you can always find a few people to run with you, or on a lower tier you can get almost any point yourself. I did solo al BL when I just started wvw and encountered a few problems.
In the end I was there for map completion and stayed for the wvw, so much better than pve mobs standing still to get butchered.
Doesn`t a gemstore item that gives map completion kind of defeat the purpose of exploration. I myself don`t really pvp and I am totally ok with not being able to complete the map achievement so I wouldn`t spend a dime on some cheap easy way out item. Pretty soon you guys will be asking for games that will play themselves for you while you sleep.
Instabuy 4 me.
I think it’s stupid and time-wasting to go lv5 maps or cities no one cares about just because all legendaries need gifts of explo…
and i was tired of alt-tabbing gw2/dulfy.net after reaching 80% completion…
At least if the vistas and points of(NOT) interest were good…they’re just random places, with a npc with no story or a landscape with low res textures in the distance. Wow.
no, i done it the proper way and it was easy enough
Let me get precursors and legendaries by making cool fights and trials, not farming gold and running around at 2 km/h…
Pfft. I admit the WvW maps can be a bit of a pain in the kitten for map completion but I have it done on all of my characters. Servers are being rotated around the colours of the maps these days and it’s just a matter of time.
It’s really not that hard. Not as hard as it used to be, and I did it in the bad old days.
How about being able to buy Dungeons Tokens too! Because if you could buy one you should be able to buy the other. Really are you nuts. The chances of this happening are slim to none. GW2 wants you to play in all areas of the game. That’s why to make your legendary you have to do a bit of everything. You get enough of the WvW tokens in the chest as you play and do achievements. I got so many now I don’t know what to do with them.
They want to keep players going to areas they don’t enjoy to keep them populated. I think they would be better off giving everyone a way to achieve without this policy but it is what it is. A person hates WvW, why make him map it? A person hates Dungeons and Fractals and 5 man pugs, why make him do them? Because that’s the way it is and I don’t see it ever changing. Arena it invested in a diverse game and wants diverse players who do everything. I think a lot of players could live without Dungeons and Fractals and PvP and WvW too. I like the open dynamic world events like The one time Karka event and the Scarlet Invasions. And I wish a way to achieve a legendary was possible no matter what your play style is, but it’s not and the most vocal players like it that way.

Yes, that was a problem I had on my main. I needed the blue map and we kept getting red. So, this time I took advantage of the fact that we were paired with two low level servers and thus we ruled EB and most of the borderlands. With the new rotation method, I’ll have to see if I will map another set or not…
So far…I think the answer to your survey is: No.
im going to say yes i did do all those areas ive got 100 percent but since i didnt want to wvw at the time so would have bought those things so i didnt have to i was wasting a spot for someone who did thats actually why i did most of mine late at night when less are on. i did get to the point where i got to like wvw now and do some on occasions when i got time. so mabye forcing me to wvw got me to actually wvw but thats against play the way you want somewhat
yes! thanks for all those precious feedback!
please keep them coming!
btw, i would not buy such a thing.
i forget to answer my own survey question.
I might pay gems to have hearts auto complete, and receive no reward for them. (no exp, no karma, no coin)
I’d pay 100g worth of gems for a 100% world completion item even if it meant forfeiting map completion rewards.
So much hate for world completion. So. Much. Hate.

They should either remove WvW from requiring 100% map completion or keep it as is. Adding a paid method to skip it is just being greedy.

Well… there is an android game, an RPG, where you buy the game and the game plays itself. I think you just pick the name of the character, then he starts playing. You just check in on him now and then to track his progress, dungeon completions, his loot, his interactions with other… players. So yes, probably the future of GW2… or 3

Disclaimer / Warning: Personal opinion incoming….
I think being able to purchase any type of ‘completion’ item like this sort of cheapens the achievement.
Especially if its your first time doing it. Something like this would help us get a reward we really didn’t earn.
If you’ve done it all before, and you just don’t feel like doing it, then don’t do it. Is it really that hard to ignore?
No, I would not use something like this, and personally would be against them selling something akin to it. However, it is human nature to seek the path of least resistance and there would probably be many that would like it, and would use it.
Personally (and this is solely my opinion), I think the rewards for map completion should be drastically reduced, if not completely removed ,if such short cuts were allowed.
Cheapens the achievement of surviving through enough soul crushing boredom that you were finally able to finish your legendary? That’s the way I’m seing it, I’m thinking of just selling my precursor and getting a Foefire weapon because I just know it’s going to take me ages to 100%, by then I’ll probably have enough gold for a precursor anyway.

Oh, you all are so spoiled. Finishing 100% is so easy. Even I’ve done the WvW on 6 or 7 toons. You just have to go every week to get the different colors. Go back and do GW1 and try mapping. You had to go to each area and face you toon to the wall and slowly and methodically trace your way around the entire area while sweeping your head in every direction to find every little cranny to open. Then, you had to find everything inside the area. And were talking tiny little 1/100 of a view counting. Then, there were hidden areas and secret passages you had to find by walking into walls and through mountains. You could literally have the whole map uncovered but not have enough to finish without all the edges and secrets. Yes there was a bit of wiggle room but when you did it, it was an accomplishment.
Just goes to show what one person finds easy another finds difficult and boring. Give me all the mapping and hearts and vistas and chevrons and keep the 5 man pug dungeons and fractals.
i have an idea, why not make map completion something that doesn’t involve any kind of PvP whatsoever.
so no eternal battleground, no WvWvW and no other PvP methode, just PvE.
clearly there are plenty of ppl who can’t stand PvP (like i do) and map completion should not be important if you care so much about PvP, keep them separated as it should.
Absolutely not.
The only reason you would “need” map completion is for legendaries, and the entire crafting structure of legendaries is that they require participation in just about every aspect of the game (with the exception of spvp). Selling map completion for WvW totally removes that portion of crafting your legendary. Besides, if you refuse to play WvW, how are you getting your Gift of Battle?
Not everything should be available for gold. Some things should actually need to be earned in ways other than farming.

they should not be WvW exclusive to begin with, making legendaries exclusive to “all” players and keeping it away from “exclusive” players beats the whole point on “play what you want”
