in my opinion i dont think it should be bought because all that shows is that you just play more then others or you basically OWN the market. it doesnt really show skill or well you can command others.
I think that to get the commander icon should be something like a server vote to those who you know are good and have the potential to actually be a “commander”
anyone else agree?

I think there should be additional requirements for commanders. Simply being able to pay the gold price is silly.

I would suggest there being multiple ranks to Commander, so that after the initial purchase… You have to earn your status and prove your worth. Possibly by linking it to WvW kills or PvE experiences?

I was able to pay for my commander title and i am currently uniting my server with a server-wide alliance. My guild has 300 members and we are able to get organized raids, 4 nights a week for roughly 4-6 hours per night. Tell me again I don’t deserve it because I could simply buy it.

However, there are players out there who buy it and don’t use it properly. This is no different than working for a bad manager and at the same company down the road, there is a great one. You deciding to listen is what makes or breaks your server. Find the good ones.

I think it could be useful to provide ranks to the Commander title. This way, you could easily tell who “the good ones” are.

If you WvW for a while eventually you will realise which commanders are good and which ones are just rich but have no skills.

Personally I’d say leave the commander fee as it is, any good sink is good in my opinion considering the price of gems these days.

Having said that, I would like an option implemented so you can remove commander icons from your display minimap, without having to be in another commander’s squad

Giving it ranks would be a great idea.
Keep the fee and blue icon, but add ranks only achievable in PvP and change the icon accordingly.

Would like to see some kind of vote for a commander. So the server can decide who is good and who just sucks. Right now most of the people follow the guy with the blue symbol and don’t think what they are doing there (The Zerg). The commanders doesn’t give any commands and just runs his farm rout. No defending or force people to stay in a base and upgrade it, only zerging around. After you get voted you will be commander for few days and lose the rank then.

For the people who spend 100g, they can form a bigger group of 15-20 persons in WvW.

I dislike the idea of ranks because every idiot will get them sooner or later and then we have the same problem as before. Plus you can’t show how good your tactics, decisions and leadership are in an achievement.

I like commander the way that it is. I don’t care if the commander I am following in WvW is 10 years old. If they had 100g, they have played more than me and have more experience in game, so I will generally take their suggestions in WvW because I’m not that good on my own. Commanders organize a mob of players to take down a fort. After the fort is taken, who really cares about the person controlling the commander?

Ranks are pointless. Players who already have amassed 100g for commander will amass the money for the ranks.

Disable the commander icon on the map in PvE. No one cares. Having 6 commanders on the minimap in LA makes it hard for me to find the mystic forge WP when I’m at the crafting station and want to toss in my useless creations for a chance at winning the lottery.

i just think “buying” a title is stupid, also the fact that you can just shows that “rank” in this game is like CoD. currently all the commander title shows is that you have too much free time on your hands. Just today in WvW there were roughly 10 people with the rank and only 1 was actually rallying people and “commanding” the server

Yes, there is a huge lack of leadership in WvW, no skill is required to get commander rank, and chat is filled with people bickering about who made mistakes, rather than trying to organize.
Also, turn off the icons in PvE, please?

The solution to this issue is to simply adjust the requirements to receive the rank, your character should need to be qualified to obtain Commander status. I think purchasing the rank is just silly.
