topic whales stranded on leon arc
Who says any of these species are endangered in Tyria or that it’s any type of statement about the real world environment?
I mean this in any way incites animal abuse and indiscriminate hunting japan is just a humble suggestion .. just that I and a good part of the community .. I’ve seen complaining in the world chat about it ….
I hope they add a way to save the whales. The water buckets don’t seem to do anything. Yeah they’re graphics, but they look and sound so sad on the beach. I really want to knock them back into the water :S

I haven’t seen anything to do with hunting or abusing the whales in any way in the game though. They’ve just washed up on the shore. The ones I found had NPC’s standing near them and crying as well.

i just had to correct the title, sorry :P
These whales have made quite an emotional impact it’d seem.
Is it bad ? I don’t think so. The fact that many people have such emotional reactions to this is a sign that Anet have done their job well.
I would be worried if people only shrugged at it, or if they laughed about having a whale steak or something like that. But that’s not what happens, people are actually asking for a way to save the whales. To me this means Anet managed to create an empathic bond between the player and the game. This is succesful storytelling and a good way to convey a message.
I think Tauril has hit the nail!
I think any writer or story or even game developer struggles and strives to bring an emotional connection to their work.
I found myself yesterday spending 10 mins throwing water on a whale, hoping it would be some kind of hidden event and that the whale would be pushed back into the water and be saved.
because I’d stay all afternoon if necessary in order to save the whales.
