for big group meta events sometimes it is hard since the angry mob just wanna kill everything.
for those hearts i thought there are already enough choices?
So far those 2 examples I quoted are the only 2 I had a problem with.
Wounded animal and you cannot heal it so have to kill it triggering the event.
Its to contrived just screams trap.
Why cannot I heal it I have heals, sry too obvious.
Capturing young Doylaks and you usually have to slaughter the adult ones to do it.
Maybe I just don’t want to do that but its the only way to complete that heart.
Other hearts have multiple options that one is capture and protect captured calves only.
Im just one of those annoying players that likes to role play their character.
Frankly, while choice is always a good thing, there are certain stories ANet wants to tell and certain ways they will want tasks done. At times when your RP is at odds with the event, you still have a choice — do the event and pretend it never happened or abstain from the event for the sake of your RP.
I know it’s not a popular stance, I have no issue with RPers, but your RP can’t take precedence and shape the game’s world and mechanics to suit you. It’s just not feasible.
As a RPer, i still agree with Cinder.
When i do an event that is “against” what i feel my character would be doing, i just pretend it never happened.
:)
having to kill the adult doylaks made me a bit sad too. i just used my imagination and pretended the adults had something like rabies. They were infected with a disease and i had to kill them to save the babies, which weren’t infected yet ^^ because if i didn’t kill the adults, they’d cause the babies to get sick too, and then they’d die as well. So putting the adult down was actually a ‘positive/mercy’ thing to do.
You’re a role player. you can use your imagination to make it work!
…same for the animal you couldn’t save.. maybe in the story you make up in your mind, the animal was poisoned with some sort of powerful substance for which your character hasn’t advanced far enough to heal. It might even be emotionally troubling for your character to realise her/his ability to heal is not “infinite” and “all powerful”, there are still things your character hasn’t fully mastered…
Kinda like.. doctors have the ‘power’ to heal, in real life, but of course they can’t save everyone, even when they try their best, sometimes their medical know how just isn’t enough to save a patient.
