this was a issue i wanted to bring up now that the forums are completely back.

according to the preview (and im told the preview is a bit broken atm, it doesnt display any effects of the weapons)

the T1 sylvari weapons are crafted by low level asura, its look identical to the low level weapons i picked up when i started playing. (i dont believe cultural should be attained by random low level drops in the world, especially not mechanical looking ones for sylvari)

T2 these look good, not complaints at all, they are very much alive, green looking plants.

T3 for 63k karma, i get a very thin looking branch with a few dead vines over it, no leaves, flora, nothing, they do not look impressive and culturally they lead me to feel that the sylvari are a dead or dying race which im sure is not supposed to be the point.

the guys that did the armour sets, my hats off to you the T3 armour looks so good, but it feels like the weapons, you ran out of time and took a shortcut.

would be nice to know if theres more to it because the preview is a bit broken or if theres anything better going to be implemented. atm i feel like i made the wrong decision playing this race when the cultural weapons look like they do.

all i have is the greatsword but u can tell what the blades will kinda look like

I think the idea is T3 weapons look older, think ancient/elder wood instead instead of soft/green wood (T2).

Also weapons aren’t race bound, you can go buy human/charr/norn cultural weapons if you want.

if it was supposed to look older, and just fyi im using the staff. make the weapons look a bit thicker, like they have been around for a long time vs a thin little twig that grew over night. for the pricing and level of the weapon its a massive let down to say the least.

i could get say ebonhawk gear but i wanted to keep with the lore of the sylvari i wanted to get the amazing t3 armour and then the staff that would go with it, but if you look at armour T3 and the weapon, they dont even match its like the art guys had to discussions about keeping the style, and made completely different pieces that dont even match each other.
so no continuity =(

@trollingfornoobs, i see the blue edge of the sword, that doesnt appear in the preview, its not bad, but does it have any visual effects on it as well?

if theres extra bits on the staff that would be nice but i dont want to spend 63k karma buying something just to see if it looks right.

Would anyone be aware if the T3 Cultural Weapon is available at a cheaper karma price? I ask this because, for example, the T2 Cultural Greatsword was easily purchased at level 20 from a random karma merchant. Now; however, it wants me to shell over 63,000 karma for a weapon I’d only use for the skin.

I have a ideal, look at the weapons for the lvl 55 dgn. They all plant made and I think they look awesome. Plus if you dont like teh states then just transmute them(that what i am going to do)

no visual effects sorry. i got it just for the looks mainly. 63k karma honestly isnt that much really. i bought this as soon as i had 63k and that was at lvl 75. by the time i hit 80 i already had close to 7/8k. its not hard to get karma really. even if it takes a while, i plan on playing this game for quite a while. im not in a huge rush

yeah but its expensive for a preview. karma is easy enough to come by but when its spent id like to get something decent.

Are the T1 weapons bugged? They are really simple Asura drops, nothing to do with the Sylvari.

Also, I got my Staff and Trident, with T2 skins, as a drop. While I’m obviously happy with them, should cultural rewards really also be drops?

As for T3, I like them, I can certainly see where they were going with them, I’m just not sure at the moment whether I prefer them to the stuff I have.

I hate the weapons >< They just look too flimsy for me. I would’ve preferred something more wood than the vine looking stuff I’ve seen so far.

T1 weapons aren’t bugged. They’re Asura skins.

This makes me happy tbh. When i checked the preview i only saw the branches not a blade, so if the longsword looks liek this but smaller im so getting it.

Sylvari and Asurans seem very closely knit. They both share T1 and T2 cultural weapons and the Brisban Wildlands as their second area.

Anyway, T1 cultural weapons can always be acquired in the first zone or two of each race. I’ve also run across a few T2 cultural weapons occasionally, though I didn’t think to make note of it until I found out what the skin was.

That being said: anyone know where we can find drops of T2 weapons for Sylvari or heart merchants that will sell them?
