I want to like the sylvari but...
They can make amazing necromancers if you’re up for that.
Love the sylvari necros.
I suggest either ranger or necro though. They both seem to work well with Sylvari.

I really love the female sylvari voice, personally. JH suits my guardian to a T!
I have 4 Sylvari females and I think they sound adorable.
I really like the Sylvari dialogue compared to that of the humans.
I second Sylvari Necro’s and Rangers- there is just something about those classes that work amazingly well with Sylvari
Then again so does Ele and Mesmer
well that’s your fault for not being able to see that person in any other role. I personally love the female sylvari voice. I have a sylvari ranger and a sylvari ele both female because I dont like the male sylvari voice.
The voice doesn’t bother me on either. Although why they don’t use English voice actors to do English accents confuses me! When I play as my sylvari main I’m just thinking “handsome plant fella” or when I play as my sylvari alts I’m just thinking “pretty plant lady”
As per the names… should the Sylvari actually know what they mean? Maybe the Sylvari just think the word sounds cool? Or perhaps they mean something different in Tyria… After all, the language they speak is probably a mix of other races’ Tyrian languages.
As for the accent…. well… they are plants who are imitating accents. It certainly should not be a perfect accent. Think of their accent as a natural imperfection.
I’d suggest Mesmer for class… but then again I am rather biased and they are not super easy to level up.
Edit: I would suggest Mesmer partly because it fits Sylvari mystique

The female sylvari’s voice reminds you of fem-shep? o.O Honestly I didn’t even know it was Hale at first, the sylvari voice and femshep are worlds apart imo. Part of the reason I like her as a voice actress so much, she has a really wide array of ability.
Personally I really urge you to try and get over your fem-shep comparisons because the female sylvari has the best delivery of lines of all player characters I’ve seen. If you’ve played a female human or norn then the sylvari’s voice acting should be a breath of fresh air.
At any rate as far as class recommendations, if you want to play to the sylvari’s chivalrous themes a guardian or warrior with the “green knight” starting story is probably the most fitting story for any character archetype I’ve seen. Really though sylvari works well with just about anything, engineer might be a bit odd but you’ve ruled that out anyways.

The human isn’t bad and the VA really nails it at points. Though i’ve still yet to hear the norn sound vaguely interested in whats going on around her.
Jennifer Hale is the classiest necromancer.
