Made without Sylvari in mind
That is a funny one … but not necessarily messed up. You see a goodly chunk of non-Sylvari in the Grove, so I looked at that one as: said hero is someone you ran into after coming out of the pod.
I do find it funny that 25 years is enough to rank Trahearne as “Leet Orrian Knowledge-Masteh,” though. Hello, Necromancer – who says precisely how long one of those guys can really live? For all we know, one of the Human Necros could have been alive since back when Grenth took over the kitten Underworld.
(I should say “Human PC Necros;” since one would think Palawa Joko’s Undead kitten is most assuredly a Necro …")

I’ve always felt that starting off wearing human-made clothes (cloth, leather, metal), rather than being born wrapped in leaves and vines and twigs, felt downright bizarre. Inconsistency is a misnomer.
To be accurate, I suppose you aren’t born wearing those clothes. But you dream wearing those clothes, and you immediately don them again after birth, so the effect is largely the same (are sylvari really born right beside a giant pile of human clothes? “Welcome to life, here’s your generic human short-skirt and bra-top.”)
Where are all the natural armors? Why do we come into the world surrounded by Sylvari wrapped up in plant growth, then get harried out on our way wearing chainmail? If no other place, I certainly expected to emerge from the pale tree wearing truly sylvan clothes.
^ Well, to be literal, Sylvari are born with no armor at all; leafy or otherwise. Both in lore and in the game. Player characters are naked until they talk to a Warden about “the clothes I wore in my dream”.
And I do agree that there are quite a few “errors”, one could say, regarding how the lowbie experiences of the game go for Sylvari. However, a lot of it is more just game mechanics than anything else. A shame, but the game works easier that way.
I really wish there were far more leafy armors and town clothes for Sylvari. I’d imagine they would have such beautiful clothing.

Get yourself a cultural T1 set as early as possible and start transmuting, and never ever look back.
Do you even lift, bro?
Technically, when you begin, you are “in the dream” so it isn’t real. You could be “dreaming” this armor and weapons you have. When you come out of the dream, you are in your leafy clothing until you talk to the Warden who gives you the drempt armor and weapon. It’s all interesting, and I do agree with the Guardian storyline minor misnomer. Kinda funny when you think about it!
