I am creating a new sylvari and need help/suggestions with respect to the character’s glow. I want to use the violet night (blue and purple) skin tone. Which glow do you think looks best with this skin tone? I have considered dusk, dusky, and streamlet but would appreciate any suggestions.

becasue the name of the color rules :P But seriouslly, you will get diffrent effects evn by just playing with the glow intensity slider.

edit: here’s an idea for you. Violet pattern color and seafoam green glow. This way you get kind of a bio-luminecent moss glow

I made a mistake when I was creating my first Sylvari as I couldn’t see my glow. I had the settings set to low but I ended up with a pale green skin colour as well as a bright red glow ( not understanding what the glow was at the time ) and it doesn’t seem fitting at all… I’ll be changing my characters looks soon so I’m intrigued to see what kind of fitting glows and skin colours pop up.

I am sorry I am not adding to your topic , but I am having a bit of trouble even seeing the glow at all …..

I bought a total makeover kit just to remake my messmer because I have never seen the glow on my toon. I bought a piece of the Nightmare set the chest piece and I do the see the little dots light up when its night but nothing on my toon… not on the skin or the flowers parts for hair ….

I have yet to use the kit because I am afraid that it would be wasteful…..is there some settings I need to make sure are turned on or am I just picking something in the skin textures that is not applicable to have a glow ….HELP!

I am starting to think the kits are broke they do not show the Glow at all.

A guildy showed me that it was a faint glow on mine of a pinkish color that was not in the flower of the hair, so armed with that knowledge I went back into the kit…I can not see any glow effects on my toon but can still see the glow effects on the armor piece…..Can someone confirm the kits not working right ??

The kits seem to be working fine for me. Make sure you have glow turned all the way up maybe? It’s also good to choose contrasting colours for glow if you really want them to show up.

give me an example of colors to try and I did have it all the way while using the kit , I even tried turn the gamma back to a lower setting to make the lighting darker. I see what kind of glow I have on my toon, but in the kit I don’t see any glow …

Well, another thing to do is change the lighting on the kit screen. It’s a little light bulb icon. Forrest Green and White are good for contrast if you want to check if the glow is working.

There is a bug where the sylvari glow does not show in the makeover screen, but after the makeover is done your character will have the glow settings you’ve selected. I’m not sure whether this has been acknowledged by a rep. I have seen other players discuss it in a thread somewhere on these forums.

I knew about the light bulb. That was not the problem.

That is not a very useful item then….the main reason I got the kit was to change the glow feature that I could not see to begin with to something more visible and to my own taste. Now I guess I will be waiting on official statement if that is correct. That there is a glitch in the total makeover kit. And for the record why is it not full screen, I feel really ripped off on that purchase.

I used the kit also but don’t have any glow… I could change the glow color etc in the makeover screen but afterwards it was gone… wrote an Supportticket to the Devs. Hope they can help us with this problem.

The kits are slightly bugged, I’ve used two on both my Sylvari alts just to change some minor details but for some reason the glow doesn’t show in the make over tab on my female Sylvari but it does on my male. I had to pick a colour on female, accept the change and hope it suited my tonal scheme which luckily it did.

In response to OP, my main guy has the violet night and a purple dusting skin tone. I used the light blue glow at max, I think it was called River (or similar). Hope this helps
