No red skinned sylvaris?
I can’t recall seeing one. Didn’t even know they existed! Pretty awesome look btw ^^
Reds and yellows are quite rare. I’ve been designing one for a few days now, however, so there will at least be 2 when I get my engi to 80
I do have a red Sylvari, my hunter, Badhynn. :’p His glow is green, I was thinking to a strawberry when I first created him.
But yeah, they tend to be rare. I wanted to make a yellow Sylvari, but I don’t really like the tones of yellow we can use, I wish there was some more. :/
I’ve seen a few…I originally intended to have orangey-red skin but I didn’t like the yellow and lime-green highlights that come along with it on the skin and most of the hairstyles (and the cultural armour.) I knew I wanted purple as my secondary colour (think tiger lilies) and the yellow and green just made it a bit…much.
I hope at some point they have a look at all the colours again and tweak some of them, some seem to have a lot more depth than others IMO.

I have some red on mine at her hands and feet, but I prefer green. It means life for me, and we know that the sylvari are really into that ^^.
Purple/blue is pretty common too.
My Sylvari is also red

I made my sylvari red-skinned for a few weeks to match that flamekissed set. I think red skinned sylvaris look really good. But you’re definitely right about them being rare. I never thought of it before but I almost never see any. This is a vid of my sylvari in that armor while red-skinned.
Mine are all gray. I like red leaves though. :P
I tend to base my sylvaris’ skin colour on the “official” colour of each profession, or at least one close to it…
so yeah, there are definitely some of the warm colours among the 8

Sorry for the late reply guys! Yeah after making my character a red sylvari I slowly started to notice how I never remember seeing many red sylvari characters. Maybe because it’s hard to find colors to choose from, I just now re dyed the armor for mine that you can see in the image below. I thought making EVERYTHING purple and red seemed a little too boring haha.

My Friend has a “Red apple” themed Sylvari I have a pink one XD

We need more banana people like you.
This is my warrior, yellow-orange skin colour

My necro vari started out apple red with a mushroom head. Then I found out that almost no dyes looked good on her, and she went blue-ish with a daring forward-swept deep marine blue edged leaf-bangs thing. Then the new hair came out and she got fern braids.
The dyes are the killer for red varis unless you’re willing to clash horribly (which could be nicely IC). They also affect cultural armor. I have Lemon skin on my vari warrior, which is a lovely gold-green or green-gold. Unfortunately it makes a dull brown in the armor. A big red splash in the same place would be equally restrictive in how the armor could be dyed.
My theory about the general lack of red and yellow Sylvari is that its due to the secondary tones associated with those colors.
Both red and yellow (and brown, actually, and I notice not very many brown sylvari either despite the fact that brown skin with green leaves you would think would be a common color scheme) primary skin tones also have distinct green secondary tone, which affects things like the characters lips and other parts of their face, and also parts of the body. None of the other skin colors really have any vastly different secondary tones, its usually just a lighter or darker version of the primary color or a very slight tint of another color. The distinctly different secondary color is unappealing to some people, either because they want to be able to choose the it themselves (rather than having it always green) or just because they don’t want it at all and would prefer it to just be a different hue of the same color.
Just a theory, mind you. But it is one of the things the rarer colors have in common (the other perhaps being that they’re just too bright, but that seems less likely since even the darker more muted reds and yellows are rare), so it seems feasible at least.
I personally quite like the secondary green on those colors, though. In fact, I intentionally chose a face for my orange / yellow Sylvari that would utilize the secondary to good affect. It really gives it a very interesting look, and you don’t get the same effect from the greens or darker colors which lack the secondary.
Mine is a very light leafy green, but I understand the statement of certain colors. Many players when they login, usually see the green/brown variety as set down during character Creation. What many don’t realize is the color charts can be chosen then lightened or darkened accordingly, through slight bar interaction. (Not talking about the glow slide bar.)
I have seen medium to cool colors. Green’s, brown’s, blue’s, white’s, and variations of there. But rarely have I seen that many orange, yellow’s, reds, the truly warm colors. About the only time I do see warm colors is usually in the glow portion. I think if the Dev’s started more options of flowering or fern like hair more, we might see a pattern towards warmer colors in the skin tone. Because we usually design our facial/hair around our own skin tone, and/or vice versa.
I personally didn’t notice the lack of orange, red or yellow Sylvari on my server. I mostly see elementalists run those as their primary colors but I do feel people prefer to use red as armor, glow and pattern color rather than skin tone.

Boring ol’ green sylvari here, but I’m quite miffed at the lack of secondary colors for the green and blue skins as well as most of the hairs (ily starry night).
I always loved those highlights in the reds and yellows, but I’m more of a fan of cool colors, so I never picked them. :T (plus I just can’t convince myself that stems can be anything other than green and living)

I have three Sylvari. One for Winter, one for Summer and the last, Spring. I chose colors that I associate with the seasons AND professions. The summer and Winter are pretty passé, but the Spring Sylvari, I take pride in.
My fresh new banana colored ranger sylvari. Away with those boring grey and dark green tones :-)
