Rate the sylvari name above yours!
8/10 Aiderich sound nice.
I named mine: “Durael von Wiyen” because I am from Vienna.
9/10 Sounds fitting. It seems a bit out of place due to the length of the name.
I named mine: Grimibis
why? because I always used Grimibis.
Grim referring to the dark, or death
Ibis referring to the bird, which can symbolize nature, or if you go deeper, fragility of life. I forgot the name of the book reference.
Grimibis = Reminds us how cruel nature can be, or Life and Death is a never ending cycle that both derives from nature

Catchy name that was well thought trough. Cool with the meanings too ^^
Mine is a female Necromancer named Neala Dreamcatcher
9/10
I really like your name. I love the first name. But because you’re a necromancer, I took off a point because I feel like your last name should have been Dreamsnatcher. That sounds so evil like something I think a necromancer should have.
My sylvari mesmer’s name is Luna Danu of Dreams.
My Sylvari Warrior is named Pursifal, an alternate “almost-there” spelling of Percival to jive with the whole Arthurian theme.
Byblis is my Sylvari necromancer, named after the rainbow plants; which are a genus of carnivorous plants. Meatoberfest is sacred to him
Well since the last couple of people didn’t rate the previous names, I’ll go ahead and do it for them.
—Luna Danu of Dreams – 6/10. I like the Luna and the Dreams bit but I’m not to sure about the Danu bit… is it supposed to be a reference to the Danube River?
—Pursifal – 7/10. I like that you stuck with the naming convention in the lore, even if it’s only phonetically. I thought it was “Pursefail” at first glance though, which was confusing to say the least.
—Byblis – 10/10. I like that you used an actual plant genus for your name. The fact that it’s a carnivorous plant is even better and very suitable for a necro.
As for my sylvari names, my male mesmer is Orgaetorix, a variation on the spelling of this guy’s name and my female necro is Ardaitheoirí, Gaelic for “lifts” as in “lifts from the earth”.
I’ll give an 8/10 for your mesmer. It’s a cool name but a bit trippy on the tongue. 10/10 for the necro name because of the gaelic meaning (I’m biased)
I’ve got 5 sylvari, but I like the names of a couple…
My ranger is Terywen, because it sounded sylvari-ish to me while I was making her. My thief and main character is Crythana. I wanted to do some variation of “Crystal”, but that happened somehow
8/10 for the one above me!
Nairn Kavanagh is my Sylvari Guardian and my main.
8/10 my sylvaris name is Delusion
I like it but I prefer names that are kinda punny.
Mine is Flint Bloom as my thief where as my ranger is named Rose Soryu
8/10 Just curious, but I didn’t get the pun in those names
Mine is Klossk, Sylvari Ranger, and Rhaxtus, Sylvari Thief, both of the Order of Whispers. (But don’t tell anybody, it’s a secret :P).
I like coming back here to read these interesting names sylvari unite!
I’m not certain of the proper scoring system to use for personal preference in plant people names but I’d say:
Klossk 8/10
Rhaxtus 7/10
To me, they sound like names a humanoid lizard race could use.
My female Sylvari ranger’s name is Klora Feel.
Yep, went straight for lame punnery.
I’ll give you an 8/10 because the silly pun made me chuckle a bit and yet it still somewhat ressembles a name.
Male ele – Misrael
Female thief – Alfeena
Male engineer – Eesley
Pick a name, any name and JUDGE ME.
9/10 for your ele, 8/10 for your thief, and 5/10 for your engi (sorry just don’t like the ring to it as a Sylvari name :S)
My one and only Sylvari’s name (and my second most played character) is Larenthir
Tidal Legion [TL] – Sea of Sorrows
Okay! My turn!
Score for names:
Larenthir — 10/10 (definately very fitting; He sounds like a regal character)
My character names:
Lapis N. Lazuli (Fire / Condition Damage Engineer — Dusk bloom / Order of Whispers)
Sweet Lazuli (Longbow / Greatsword Ranger — Dawn bloom / Priory)
Yes, my two salads are happily married. My engie took his wife’s given name as his surname for paperwork reasons. I love it when people accidently refer to him as “Mr. Lazuli”! LOL!
(edited by kta.6502)
8/10 for the names, 10/10 for the surname business
My elementalist is Nacatl Bitterblosum. (Bitterblossom wouldn’t fit)
I love MTG, and with those two cards coming back into modern I found they actually make a very good name for a Sylvari.
Gwynieve Thistlewaite (last name would not fit)
Caedywn Thislewaite (same)
Gwynieve sounds rly great im giving it 8/10 and Caedywn get 9/10 becose it sounds rly irish : ) And in my opinion match Sylvari very well.
Im not sure why you are not happy with Thistlewaite. In my opinion it fit wery well.
My Thief Sylvari is called Tirladhrae. It reminds me of some dragon roots and of much more but i cant name it in english. She is very open minded and love adventure.
So Tirladhrae is the name : )
(edited by Ves.8236)
Do like the ring of Tirladhrae, has something to it Makes me long for more ._.
9/10
Mine are Violette Héliotrope (mesmer), Cynthia Wallflower (mesmer) and Bellatrix Accacia (warrior) They’re all named after plants and those have meanings such as —→ Accacia is hidden love if I should believe the internets xD
I really like Violette Heliotrope – has a nice vibe to it – 9/10
Cynthia Wallflower seems more normal to me without anything amazing in particular but still 7/10
Ballatrix Accacia – also 7/10 – the joining of the name and surname doesn’t have the flow to me but i like the tendency you have chosen there
Myself I don’t really like the roleplay way of naming in MMO’s. WIth that in mind:
Sylvari Female Necromancer – Bad Cabbage
Sylvari Female Mesmer – Viva La Levativa
Sylvari Female Thief – Black Salad (it has specific origin – look it up if ya want)
Bad Cabbage – 8/10 – lol
Viva La Levativa 7/10 – It’s a tongue twister 8(
Black Salad – 7/10 I don’t have enough time to look it up sorry
I’m not really into roleplay either but I end up using roleplayish names when I can’t think of anything. I didn’t really put a whole ton of thought into it.
Abigael Thorn – Engineer
Azaelis – Necromancer
Azaelis is a made up name derived from Azalea.
Abigael Thorn – 7/10, I think single word names are more suitable for sylvari
Azaelis – 9/10, It sounds really good!
I think It would help with rating if we gave a bit more details about our characters.
Aithaen – male thief
Aithaen sounds very sylvarish, I like single word sylvari names. 9/10
Mine is Woolly Milkcap, named after the mushroom.
I’m a mycological fan, so I really like the whole mushroom theme! Although Woolly Milkcap doesn’t sound sylvarish, it passes muster, admirably, for being “Anglicized.” ;-)
My Minion Master Necro sylvari is named Vozhek. Obviously, when I went to naming him, I was completely new to Guild Wars 2 and didn’t have any idea what was an appropriate sylvari name. Oh well…
Vozhek isn’t half as kittenome (edit: Really? The forum changes the words ‘bad’ and ‘as’ after each other? You get the point. Not as bad.) other names I’m seeing. (I mean the pun-names by this. I’m a lore kind of guy and every sylvari name that wouldn’t fit in Tyria makes me cringe.)
I’ll give this a 6.5/10 for not using a last name and a non-pun name, and something that fits a necromancer rather well, too.
My sylvari’s name is “Allyssae”.
(edited by Wubdor.5190)
Allyssae is a good name for a Sylvari I think, but you didn’t give any detail which makes it harder to rate but i’ll give it 8.5/10
My sylvari;
Elyma Nightfall (pronounced Eh-li-mah)
lvl 41 Ranger
Ice breathing drake named Flipper & a Sylvan hound named Sylva (pronounced Silv-a)
She is playful and intent on suicide most of the time.
She is also a member of the whispers.
I like the reference to GW1 (Nightfall), Elyma sounds a bit odd to pronounce but i still like the name as it is , so i’d give it a 9/10!
For your pets – Flipper doesen’t really sound like an ice breathing drake to me xD it’s more like a name for a…dog or cat – or a dolphin.
Sylva in general is okey, even if it reminds me of a person i know who’s not really that nice xD Overall i’d give ti a lower grade than your ranger’s name (mostly because of personal preferences .
)
My Guardian’s name is Xylion Aegis.
To understand his name you have to get a bit in the Greeks mythology tho’ xD
Xylon means “From the forest” in Greek while Aegis was Athena’s and Zeuses shield that could shield it’s holder from any attack.

8/10
Your name is pretty nice but… i just dont really like Sylvari with surnames
My Elementalist- Adavald
And my Necromancer- Arvhael (not pretty sure it’s Sylvari-like name, please help! )
9/10 Like the simpleness and sound of it
My ranger: Citrus Mojito
7.5/10 – Hoping for a lemony, zesty color palette!
Thistalys (Elementalist)
Then I did some reading up on proper sylvari naming etiquette and chose a Welsh word for my Mesmer — Sbwriel (refuse, rubbish, waste).
8.5/10 – hmm Thistalys, strong and elegant… Foreboding..much like an Ele… sounds like the piercing of thunder in a storm, or a thistle (sharp in its own right ha)
Mine is Generic (At least i think so): Ahrain Silverleaf (Guardian)
7/10. While it is kind of generic, it’s still an awesome and unique name to your character.
Thimel
He’s an Elementalist that likes tailoring, so it kind of sounds like “Thimble.”
5/10 I sorta get it, but I wouldn’t have w/o the explanation and Googling the word “Thimble”
Kelly Kale (Thief)

I’m guilty of pun names on some of my characters so I’ll give you a 8/10.
On the other hand if I were to be a full-on lore nut I’d give you a 5/10.
My Sylvari Warrior is named Crobh, meaning “talon” in Irish. Also it is part of the name for lotus in Irish which is Crobh éin, or “bird talon”.
7/10 mainly because i cant even speak the name without having my tongue forks x.x but its still fitting i guess
Cameliane my ranger from wich i based the name on Fey and elves (Elves and fey are very close to the définitions of sylvaris in some way )
BM: I want to present you my lovely jingle bear mia
If pet had voices: Mommy, I did it! :3
7/10, the name does not seem elven to me, but the profession seems fitting.
A Sylvari Engineer named Oukrano (pronounced: Oak-Oh-rahn-Oh) his appearance is suppose to show he is like a burning piece of wood that still has a bit of a inner ember within. He also uses the flamethrower and chemicals.
^ 8/10 – I like it.
I have a Sylvari Ranger: Orome of the Forest
He is very green :P
“Remember The Searing. We never forget, and never forgive.” – Family Motto
^9/10 – Sounds great!
Mine is a frost teal themed Sylvari named Kiyadal!
^Very nice! I would give you an 8/10
My baby Sylvari Mesmer is named Sàiste, (pronounced SAH-shta) which is Gaelic for sage (the seasoning.) I thought it was a nice play on words. (A side note: Thank you, ANet for letting us add graves, umlauts and accents to our names.)
^ I really like Saiste, I love the meaning behind it. 10/10
My three sylvari
Kali Thal’Salanot = warrior
Skyla Thal’Salanot = Mesmer and Kali’s younger sister.
I used the same model for both of these but adjusted the face slightly so that they look like sisters but not exactly alike.
And Kapani = Elementalist (no relation to the other two) Different model, etc…went single name with her as most Sylvari have single names.
8/10
My sylvari engineer is named Nature vs Nurture
7/10 It is a clever name but I think suited more to an elementalist than an engineer but I can see where you are coming from.
In GW1 my ranger’s name was Nymph of Meliai… I wanted the name to evolve rather than just use the same name… so changed it to Nymeria Meliae – mesmer
The Meliai or Meliae are ancient Greek wood nymphs of the Ash tree.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
Starting at 5, +1 for originality, +1 for fitting meaning, +1 for good sound, +1 for fitting mesmer, -1 because I think Sylvari should have one name.
8/10
My faintly bluish white Sylvari.
Thaemir, Elementalist that favors wind.
9/10 – It fits a Sylvari.
I have two, both based off the first three letters of my alias:
Ickyrii & Ickanaea
Ickyrii is a Ranger named after a great hero of the past. (My Ranger from GW1)
Ickanaea is a Mesmer named after a carnivorous plant (Venus fly trap) that lures its prey in via trickery.
The Father Tree
Sylvari Guardian
Love that Ickanaea name, very fitting, nice find!
Mine’s named Skysap. Celestial elementalist.
8/10
Cool name! Fits your Sylvari perfectly!
Robin Briar (and yes it’s an engineer).
