Skin Color
As Sylvari are based off the plant kingdom and such come in infinite varieties of colour combinations, there isn’t really a ‘typicial colour’ for a Sylvari. If you look around the Grove there are hundreds of combinations on the NPC’s and even more so on the players themselves.
If you want something simple then yeah pick a green shade you like and then dust it off with a different colour for the pattern and hair/leaf style.
I would however recommend just playing around with the choices on character creation. Treat them like a painting, mix and match until you are happy.
If you want inspiration, go to the Screenshot Topic and browse around.
I think green would look great for a Sylvari Necromancer. I can’t say I notice any specific color being the most typical, though! As the above poster says, Sylvari just come in all colors of the rainbow.
I don’t see as many really bright shades of red, purple, yellow, pink, etc though . . . probably because they are harder to coordinate with armor colors.
The color green is to Sylvari like the color of blue jeans is to us . . . it doesn’t actually match everything, but everyone just accepts that it does anyway!
For my necro I picked the darkest green/black skin tone, chose a medium green for the pattern and then chose lime for her glow.
For my thief i have used a white icy skin with the most black looking skin patterns and white glow …..
Looks awesome at Night and the contrast to my Iron dyed armor ( soon to be full Nightmare) is really nice and relaxing
my sylvari is inspired by a flower and she is purple :P

My sylvari has bark-brown skin mixed with green leafy portions, a darker green hairstyle, and her glow is a deep, rich blue. She looks like a dryad during the day, and a luminescent blossom at night. <3
Charcoal skin & White hair, as a tribute to Pirotess
Sylvari’s have such a wide range of colours to choose from it can be difficult to decide. However, with so many options, it allows you to create an almost unique Sylvari.
The look I wanted for my Sylvari was barky, like a beautiful tree.
My Sylvari has the lightest green skin, white patterns and a light yellow glow that match her eyes.
She looks like a spirit creature or candleflame to me-
I really need more character slots so I can make more Sylvari

Green and brown are probably the most “common” colors for Sylvari given the fact that plants tend to utilize those two colors most frequently, but really… Sylvari have such a wonderful variety of colors that I’d suggest really experimenting with that variety, and not just immedietly sticking with any percieved “normal” color.
Also, if you plan on using any of the sylvari cultural armor or the amor from Twilight Arbor, you should know that it uses your skin color as a mandetory 4th color in the armor.
This makes it especially fortunate to be able to use make-overs with sylvari imo.
My thief is based on poisonous plants. I created it with a sight on the che cultural armours to complete his appearence, same goes for my other sylvri for that matter. This measn deeps greens strong colours in petal formations, deep purples and reds.
My ranger is Autumnal. Pale green skin, with an ember glow to reflect warm fires and kindling. Hair is orange-red, with green tips, I think the colour was called butterscotch. The armour is tier one medium coat and shoulders. Mixture of autumn colours, using dyes. Mainly Honey for it’s beautiful yellow/gold leaf effect, then a mix of reds such as Umber and Autumn. Used Sour Apple as the base for the coat.
Engineer is christmas based. I used the standard dyes Jalepno and Limette for the greens, picked up Crisp Mint through luck and used that in the shoulders to give a more refreshing, cool air. Red highlights, which look great on the upper arm petals of the coat.

Go gray or go home.
My sylvari is frost with patina coloring.
I don’t have the t3 gear yet, but this is basically what she’s wearing. (and the t1 top is freaking shiny)
Typical sylvari color?
Banana
Considering the vast array of colors we have at our disposal at creation, in both body, pattern, glow, hair and eyes – I suggest you just go crazy and experiment…
We want as many different sylvari out there as possible, and since theres not that many sylvari players compared to ie. norn or human, you have plenty of opportunity to be ‘unique’ on some way.
My sylvari is based on the Maguuma Jungle from GW1 – base skin colour just on the green side of turquoise with traces of dark purple over the top, thick dark red leaves for “hair”, purple glow…and the face with cactus spikes because the Maguuma is both beautiful and dangerous.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Here’s my colour scheme: Blue Rose skin, sunset pattern, and I can’t remember the name of the glow, but you can see it here

My Sylvari is based on carnivorous plants, which are limey-olivey-yellowish green with red parts. I gave her yellow eyes and a yellow glow because I’d think that would work best for attracting prey. Anyway, as you can see a lot of people use an existing plant as inspiration.
