Sylvari Cultural armor.
not sure why, but its fine with me. my build focuses on those. mainly precision. you cant ever too much precision
Considering the cultural armor is only Rare (at least I think), I think they expect people to transmute it. For me it’s the awesome skin that matters anyway.
Yeah it is pretty much just for looks, if you are end any game anyway the stats will never match up.
Speaking of looks, it’s incredibly hard to dye and not look ridiculous. Even slight changes in hue between, say, browns or greens, can have a huge impact. And of course they use your skin colour on parts of it, so it makes it even harder.
I just looted Cocoa color i love it woot!

Just gotta find the right colors to mix, then it’s just the question of which color put where. The easiest way is to just take inspiraton from the colors you used for your Sylvari. The hair, the eyes, the luminiscence, the skin tone.
I’ve got for example red hair, with yellow/orange eyes and luminiscence, and beige skin going into purple.
So my armor is red with purple undertone and yellow outlines.
It’s as simple as that.
So a question i have is why does all the Sylvari Cultural armor have precision and condition dmg on it what about the other classes it really bothers me hehe. Those are the only two stats for heavy armor unless they just expect people to Transmog the armor is this the case?
You’re buying the skin, not the stats.
Honestly I think they should just remove the armors and replace them with transmutation stones, and have them work like how the hom skins work. (but for money).
i would buy it for the skin value not the stats.
and i think the armours look amazing unlike the weapons.
tier 3 weapons look awesome imo

Christ yes, spent an hour today trying to dye it properly, was hard work, hopefully when I actually get some decent dyes it will be a bit easier.

Just to clariy, what kind of armor we’re talking about specifically? The only one I’ve had chance to dye so far is Tier 1 Heavy armor and I didn’t have the slightest trouble.
Truth be told I luckily had the dyes I needed even if perhaps not the perfect shade of them, but it really can’t be that bad, can it?

Tier 3 Heavy, honestly it’s probably because I don’t have a large collection of dyes but unlike other armours the Sylvari stuff tends to merge together more, rather than have solid defined lines.
Also some colours look strange on the leafy/wood textures so I’ve stuck with a fairly boring iron/blood scheme, trying to do something more exciting with it but there are so many dyes to get =/.

Well, like I said I saw ony previews of other Sylvari armors except for Tier 1 Heavy. I I think it has well defined outlines and two blending colors.
Right now I’m using two starter shades of red and purple and one common shade of yellow and I think it looks decent (visibility in this picture it terrible though, distorts the colors). Only the leggings are bit too light and shoulders go a bit into brown.
Anyway, considering your dark skin tone… What color do you have for hair, eyes and luminiscence?

You do realise that precision and condition give you the highest dps dmg.

Precision and power, actually, unless you’re using a weapon set that specifically focuses on damage conditions. As a Dagger/Pistol thief, condition damage is nearly worthless to me. The only thing it’s going to boost is my auto-attack poison on the third hit of the chain.
I’ve done previews of all the cultural armors of every type (heavy/med/light) and my advice on dyes is this: get some dyes that actually have plant-y words in them. Personally, my theme is Amber/Black Cherry/Midnight Rose. It works well… I’d imagine that dyes with fruit/plant names would fit on the texture better. ALSO, there is a dye-sorting option that allows for you to sort your dyes by the texture, iirc.

Stay away from pastels… unless you are a pastel Sylvari… best suggestion I could give anyone.
The Sylvari really are a race you “plan ahead” when using the cultural armours from the char creation. They plan to release a pay/diamond redo which would alleviate some problems people are having.
I’ve found the Tier 1 Cloth for my character to be the hardest but the Tier 2 and Tier 3 have much more wiggle room, because the Gold Stems from my body colour aren’t as pronounced so I was limited what worked well (Dark Greens, Oranges, Reds).
Other than that, I really really like them. Formis you could probably use next to all the Midnight ____ dyes.
I mean Furby… Formis you look awesome.

Funny, didn’t notice that, could have been useful.

I looked through the other Tiers and most of them seemed kinda chaotic when it comes to distinction of the individual coloring parts. So I see why people would think they are hard to dye properly.
As for the Heavy Tier 1, which I still like the best, I think could use some darker shade of red and violet/purple for leggings and lighter ones for pauldrons.
PS: You can edit posts, and thanks.
I’ve found that instead of going for multiple distinct colors, (for example, black and red, or white and black) its easier to focus on one side of the color spectrum and use hues from there.
For example, if you want to have a nice "red"ish colored sylvari, perhaps going from Midnight Fire for the shade -> Midnight Rose for the mid-tone, and then Burgundy for the highlights.
Another example would be Midnight Ice → Shy Lilac → Deep Lilac.
Pic related, its my Sylvari Thief with Tier 2/3 Cultural dyed with this concept.

I don’t have the armor yet but I dye my T1 armor and preview T3 to see what it would look like, (I’m medium set) and it looks pretty awesome actually. I have every dye in the game on my Engi, there is several other colors despite coloring it one thing but they all compliment. The only disappointing thing I’m finding is you can’t dye it a true white.
I kept changing my mind on dye colors for about 2 hours after I got my Tier-1 Heavy set together. I finally settled on this.
