Do the Sylvari have a constant “pollen” animation flowing from their bodies?
(I am new to Tyria).

To give you a short of an answer as possible, yes.
To give you a slightly longer answer, not quite.
Lore-wise, Sylvari do have pollen that falls off their bodies with movement. But there is no actual ingame animation for this, probably because they would be too small to be worth it with your regular zooming.
probably just the warrior animation for adrenaline or something along those lines
Sylvari in Beta had a pollen effect coming off of them. It was like the Pale Tree’s effect but much tamed down. If you want to see it you can go to Briarthorn in Caledon forest and disguise yourself as a nightmare court member. For some reason they took it out of the game and it still pisses me off as that was one of my favourite parts of teh race.
I really miss the pollen effect. It was so pretty in the bwe.
well, i know how to make it kind of pollen effect as of 28th of jan. Buy the broom, ride it and /dance while on the broom -pollen(dirty) effect
I also remember that Sylvari had a pollen effect early on. I didn’t even realize it was taken away. However, now that I do know, I miss it.
FYI the pollen effect means that you are literally spewing plant sperm from your pores as you run….. O.O
I actually was running somewheres recently and noticed this pollen stuff trailing my character. in the last few days.. but i cannot remember the circumstances. i’ll try to get it again because i know it is actually still there.
So, effectively, those of us with allergies would be kind of in trouble in a battle against a Sylvari. xD Unless somehow magic is Tyria’s allegra.

I am guessing you are a warrior running Signet of Rage. Sylvari no longer have that effect on them in game.

Ever wonder what’s in the water when you go swimming in the ocean?

This is why I never really understood people who like to see, and even swim through, coral reefs that are spawning. Yes it looks pretty because all the different corals do it at the same time and it’s all different bright colours, but at the same time it’s brightly coloured sperm and eggs you’re swimming through.
To be honest I’m glad they took it out because from a lore perspective it doesn’t make any sense. In 25(+) years none of the sylvari have produced offspring, as far as we know they can’t reproduce themselves, so it would make no sense for them to produce pollen. Especially since it’d mean they’d constantly be pollinating each other and producing offspring (or at least fruit/seeds that would grow into new sylvari).
It might be that they actually just take a long time to mature and eventually they will start to produce pollen and flowers (or spores or some other form of reproductive system) but I think it’s more likely the sylvari themselves are incapable of reproducing and at some point the Pale Tree will produce fruit or seeds like the one Ronan found.

The removal of the pollen effect, from what I hear, was not removing it lore-wise. I believe it was due to technical limitations (multiple particle effects x lots of Sylvari = large system load).

I know it’s not the reason they took it out, but it’s the reason I’m glad they did.

I did like the effect from the betas, but instead they gave us bioluminescence. And the glowies are much more shiny, so I am happy. ^.^
Er we had both the glow AND the pollen in the first beta with the sylvari, the glow was broken in the subsequent betas though..
I for one loved it, and it didn’t hurt my system at all. I really wish they would bring it back, maybe with a toggle for those that don’t want to see it? But yeah, I reported the as a bug many a time before I realised it was intended. I used to run around in beta just to admire the effect.

Actually plant pollen grains are little multicellular plants that contain the sperm and other cells bound in a protective coating.
