Sylvari Racial Elite Skills
It’s basically summoning an oakheart. It supposedly grants regen and removes conditions, although because I build condition removal I rarely notice the second part.
It’s a relatively good elite, but might not be worth 30 skill points. The best thing it does is cast mass immobilization (I think in the form of chains, like the guardian hammer 3rd). Thus, it’s useful when you’re getting zerged in PvE, but only for PvE, not for WvW as it takes a ridiculous amount of time to cast and has a horrible cooldown.
By the time you hit 80 you will have extra skill points. Plus every time you “ding” 80 you get another.
I bought it and used it once. In my opinion I wasted my time with it and switched back to my 2 others. The one that grows a bunch of plants or the one that summons spirit that rezzes people are the two that I always switch between…..occasionally I’ll throw Entangle in there….rarely.
I just bought Druid Spirit and I’m not displeased with it, though I’m not sure its worth 30pts. I like that it follows me around (unlike Ranger spirits). Still, I think I prefer Entangle and Rampage As One.

I haven’t seen the Druid Spirit actually DO anything besides die. If it gives regeneration, it’s so negligable and rare that it’s not worth your elite slot.
Now, Take Root on the other hand, is overpowered! Not only does it grant 3 secs of invulnerability to use as an emergency block, but it allows you to summon 3-5 turrets with 1500 range, decent damage, AND bleed on each hit!
Seriously, Take Root is awesome!
I keep waiting for Take Root to get nerfed. It is actually more useful than many profession elites which is a bit confusing.
Take Root is worth it. The other probably not as much.
Of course, it probably just seems that way to me, because I happen to be a green-leafy Engineer, thank you very much (&sets skin on fire accidentally&)… No but really, 3 seconds of Invulnerability followed by turrets akin to an SoS rit from gw1, is some real cool flower power.
It likely depends on what you are fighting, if you’re in a large boss fight take root is awesome, but say you’re trying the asuran path in the ascalonian catacombs… the turrets would be lucky to get off two shots a piece. It’s easy enough to kill them that I do not think it’s that overpowered, just used well in some situations.
The Druid is alot better now. Before it would just stand there for the lols. Now it actually does things. I would use it more, but I hate the long CD it has. Also the cast time is a bit long so you can get interrupted.
Just think of it as a tank to take all the dmg.
