I’m wondering if theres any problems with the reflection of this armor(female version) during day time. Whenever I preview the colors, it keeps showing a baby blue color in most parts of the armor, instead of whatever color I choose. Also in most areas where theres light reflections (in other words, 98% of Tyria while day time), it either keeps reflecting the blue color, or it reflects gray. And worst part is, you can never see the actual dye color I used on most parts of the armor. So is this normal or just a bug? (I’m thinking is the latter but I could be wrong, in which case, I’ll have to change the armor cause I don’t like it one bit) And again, this is only during day time, but the dye preview and character select screen looks like that all the time.

And heres a shot at night, which looks perfectly fine and leads me to believe it has to do with the light reflections during day time, of the armor. BTW sorry the pic is a little dark, IT"S NIGHT TIME!

The only thing I can think of is perhaps the blue is part of the effect from your skin color of choice.

When you wear cultural armor, parts of the armor are going to be a set color based on the skin color you chose, as the sylvari are suppose to have ‘grown’ the armor from their bodies.

The area’s that you have shown with your screens (very helpful by the way) are (I think) the area’s that my own sylvari’s armor is effected. I myself have the same set, as it’s my favorite. My best guess is that it could just be an effect from that, and the combination of colors effecting that preset. The sylvari armor is really unique in how dye effects it. Sometimes using all one color will make is seem like you used multiple for example. It’s suppose to fit that ‘grown in nature’ feel.

Just try moving dye’s around and seeing if anything changes.

I have this problem too with my dark skinned sylvari. I attached an old screenshot of when I used to use parts of T1 cultural light armor, and it was pretty shiny. I think it looks fine with lighter dyes compared to really dark dyes. I understand leaves are probably hard to dye just like cloth, but I found it really annoying that it was THAT shiny (and blue too) compared to what the hero tab looked like.

I submitted this into the ‘issues with character art…’ bug thread back a few months ago :(

The blue/gray shine is driving me crazy on the tier 1 light outfit. If you go into your graphics options and turn ‘shaders’ down to low, you’ll get rid of the problem, but the rest of your game won’t look as great. Let’s just try to submit as detailed feedback as we can, and hopefully they will fix this problem.

Hopefully they fix this because it’s really annoying. And it looks plain awful. If not I’ll just end up buying some other armor cause I can’t stand the disgusting blue shine/reflection. And its clearly not simply a dye problem, or else it would remain at night time.

I had the same problem after buying the set, dye, and fine transmutation stones. I was upset and just scrapped the whole set. I’m wearing tier 3 now and notice the chest is giving me the same problem, but not to such a degree as tier 1 did.

i think it the materials used, and dye affinity plays a role in dye reflection,

if your dye is natural metalic scheme, and your armor is metalic in nature, it will have a reflective shine,

in my observation, all of sylvaris cultural is metalic in nature, regardless of whether it is cloth/leather/metal

thats why i dont use abyss because it turns out brownish

Tip; use the UI in the color and separate the color “by materials” and avoid the natural metalic colors
