Do you all believe that the Sylvari Elementalist makes sense, lorewise? The Sylvari are born from nature. Elementalists use nature, obviously, when they cast fire, water, earth, air, and lightning.

The reason why it also does not really make sense is because a Sylvari, which is basically a plant, is using fire.

Basically, please convince me that a Sylvari elementalist makes sense in the lore.

As much sense as a human using fire.

Wet green wood actually burns very poorly, sometimes with a net loss of energy. Animals actually burn better than green wood in most cases, especially animals with a high fat content.

Those cases of spontaneous combustion you hear about? They’re not really spontaneous. Usually it’s a result of people’s clothes catching fire, which produces enough heat to start the body burning, and if the person is overweight, the fat content provides enough energy to burn the whole body.

Also, forest fires tend to clear out dead trees and plants, and provide new life to grow in it.

So a Sylvari using fire magic can be approached from that factor. Burn the sick or dead to allow the living to grow. ESPECIALLY fitting against the Risen in that sense.

Not only do sylvari elementalists make sense, they’re actually one of the more common professions among the sylvari.

The ‘Warden Shield’ NPCs, common as guards around Warden holdings, are elementalists, although they favour earth rather than fire magic. This is significant, as it shows that the profession is common enough that unnamed NPCs have it (the other unnamed Wardens are bow or axe/axe rangers, suggesting that elementalists may actually be more common among sylvari than warriors). There are also Nightmare Court elementalists that favour fire magic in particular – I recall coming across a lot of them last time I was in Sparkfly.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

Yeah it makes sense. All the professions makes sense for most of the races. My sylvari is a necromancer and I think it makes sense for more reasons than just the existence of trahearne.

I play a ferocious Defender of the Humus, and try to specialize in Earth and Water.
But it’s just my fantasy.

Sylvari elementalists make sense because they are part of nature just like every other race. Just because they are biologically different from a human doesn’t mean they can’t wield fire and know how to do so safely, just like a human or norn or charr or asura.

All the professions make sense within the lore. What wouldn’t make sense is to limit what races can be what professions. In a world infused with magic like Tyria (it’s literally everywhere) it would be very strange if some couldn’t be elementalists just because of the the way magic is in Tyria.

They are Sylvari, not dried out scarecrows. Bit of a difference.

Have you ever been walking along and got stung by stinging nettle? It makes you feel like you are on fire.
