I might be months late and slow, but did they take out the elite skill for entangled? or is it in one of the summons that casts it out?

or did they never have the elite skill to immobilize more than one enemy?

Ranger’s have an aoe elite entangle. You might be thinking of the druid spirit which can do the same, minus the bleed from roots.

The entangle elite is still there. I hope you don’t mean the Sylvari racial skill that used to work the same, but targetable at 1200 range. Now it’s single target and if the target is out of range it goes on cooldown.

Entangle was never a Sylvari elite skill (unless it was during beta only). Its a Ranger class elite skill.

Sylvari do have a single-target root-based that snares a single enemy in the exact same roots Entangle uses, though. Its not an elite, just a normal utility.

In beta the Sylvari root utility was AoE ranged target and didnt have a max duration. Also known as “win a fight every time it’s off CD”, it was pretty nasty. I still use it sometimes, it’s nice for stopping the boss under the lava bucket in the dredge fractal.
