There has been a lot of discussion going on around the difficulty of the new TEQ encounter, and regardless of which side you sit it’s hard to argue that there isn’t a massive flaw in this new model.

The main issue as I see it is accessibility. As it stands, a lot of people are attempting this new encounter (which is great), but how long will it last? How accessible will this boss be in 1 week, or even a month? We really need to take into consideration the long term, and in its current iteration Teq won’t see more than a week or so of activity, people will just stop showing up. This issue is also compounded on low pop servers, people who hit the overflow or for those who play outside of peak hours.

This game has historically been built around its accessibility of content, and as a casual gamer this is a refreshing change for an MMO. Now before you go all Mr. Burns on me and release the hounds, I’m not saying that difficult content shouldn’t exist, it undoubtable should. But to throw new encounters in what has historically been casual / accessible content (open world events) just makes no sense. This type of event should be a guild challenge.

I want this game to last, and I want as many people to be catered for, but this patch has added something that is only acting as a point of contention.

I like that ANET are trying new things, but this particular living world event just doesn’t work in my opinion.
