It’s real simple:

Timer’s there to make the game stressful and not enjoyable, and thus to make you love it more.
We already seen games do this:

Because we all know that people want to be stressed and under pressure and racing to get that loot while playing their games.

Who cares that you want to pee, you gotta kill that thing first! Your bladder can burst for all you care.

Living story, appearing for a few weeks and then disappearing forever, brings that level of pressure to a new level: you’re stressed out 24/7 about your game as well, on top of your job.

It’s a quantum leap in gamer acquisition and retention strategy.

All hail The Timer.

That must be why everything in the game is timed, and why I get kicked if I afk for two minutes! Luckily my tinfoil hat will protect me!

Never heard of enrage timers?… be happy isn’t 10 mins.
Too many of the fight mechanics are related to turrets so if 6 ppl fail on those turrets all other 100 players will die/not do enough dps.
Some sugestions:
-remove the dps gain from ability 4 on turrets and at the same time lower boss hp to make up for it
-make it spawn more frequently at least for these 2 weeks while the event is going, every hour like u did with scarlet.
-loot better be as good as the challenge else no one will do the fight, for getting him under 75% we got some karma and green quality item.

I’m sure they many reasons for them including encouraging the “few hits and afk” players to help, amongst other things.

The timer is there simply because they need a fail mechanic and none of the other fail mechanics work well with this big of a event in the open world.

1.) Full wipe can not be done in open world.
2.) Not enough Support being played to keep a specific target alive.
3. Timer is easy.

Good thing they didn’t put in those support spec changes mentioned in the patch note leak to help encourage players to try support. </sarcasm>

Also the lack of everyone having lfg doesn’t particularly help organize either.

Finally I recalled the stopgap solution of a great princess who was told that the
