So, the new fight against Tequy-poo will require around 80 people. Even if you adjust your culling options down, that’s still a lot of stuff to show at once, and some computers will struggle, if they can handle it at all.

Back in CoH, I recall someone asking that certain things not be on people’s costumes, because they added to what computers had to deal with and caused lag. This has me wondering if there’s anything we can do to help reduce the strain/lag we create for others during the Tequatl fight.

The easiest thing I can think of is to turn off the ‘display optional’ parts of our armor. Back items, helms, shoulders, and gloves. What really worries me, though, are the weapons. Lots of legendaries and even some exotics are very flashy, and it seems like that’s just more work for the computers. You can’t really expect people to be packing a spare Ascended item to replace their legendary with for this fight, though.

Anyway… I’m wondering how much of a difference this stuff makes, and if it’s worth it to even bother with worrying about.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Chances are this event will not revert back to the old version so give it some time and do it later when things have calmed down a bit. It’s just like having a new restaurant in a small town stupidly crowded for a month then you can actually walk in and enjoy it.

It will be highly unlikely I will bother with it until after a couple of days pass, that is unless i can get myself into a less crowded overflow server.

I think the performance increase they’d get from you removing a shiny thing would be literally imperceptible. Far better to just turn their display options down for the duration (and kill pre-rendering).

to be honest, the lag is probably going to be manageable if its ends up attracting player numbers like in the scarlet events – what is more of a concern, which to be honest I don’t think has been addressed is the sound issues when large crowds are together, you know when it cuts out and then at times never plays anything so you sit in silence or get sounds that don’t play correctly.
It’s an important aspect to a game and it seems to be severely overlooked since launch…!
