Q:
Do turret operators get chests?
A:
Participating in the lazer defense event is how you get the X5% chests.
I believe you have to do damage to tequila himself to get credit for the event. For turret operators, the time for damage is right after the laser hits him. Just spam 1 while he’s stunned. That should do enough damage to count. I could be wrong because I have never been on a turret, but no other possibility makes sense.
I spammed 1 at Teq’s head for 9K+ each when stunned but still got nothing. Is that a bug, or by design?
How about those defending the turrets?
Do we have to rush in and dps hard during those brief windows of opportunity?
I’ve only done turret defense so far and failure has always been due to turrets being down (and chat being spammed with “omg the turret operators don’t know what they’re doing, BUFF US!!!”). I’m reluctant to leave them alone to join the front ranks because of this.
ability 1 and 2 should be combined on the turret
even if they cut the damage in half
Respawn, check the guide also posted in this forum. Defenders should rush in to stack on the zerg and dps during the stun, but be ready to break away (watch out for waves and whirlpools) either just before the stun ends or just as it does, so as to hurry back to your defense position before the mobs return.
I never hit teq, I just defended the turrets and I got the credit.

This must be it. unfortunately while you get credit for the main event, you will not get credit for the defense events while being a turret operator. You would need to leave your turret (and be flayed alive by the people running the event) to get those chests.

Last night Aurora Glade were organised enough that the turret users were able to leav the turrets, tag some mobs in the megalaser events for credit, then head to Teq’s area and clear out the fingers before he dropped, and get back to the turrets without ever losing control of them.
Worked a charm. We beat him with 3 minutes left on the timer, and we believe not having any worries about poison in the stun phases was a pretty major reason why i went so smoothly.
Unless there are people actively waiting for a chance to troll, there’s plenty of time to get event credit and get back to the turret before the zergs leave the megalaser events.
