Gear setup for Tequatl fight
Buying some rare gear for this boss is not that bad idea and then salvage it later,but the zerg gear will be good if you know how to jump and dodge
Just adding something quickly. Zerker gear is useful, but only on the ADDs. My initial post was meant for Tequatl himself. I’ve been rushing so the boss wouldn’t catch me on the forums, so I missed some key points. :P
Let’s see: change out an entire set of gear for one event at enormous cost (not everyone has stacks of gold) when no server has even managed it yet, or alternative two:
Don’t bother with wasting all that time and effort on the event and go and enjoy your limited leisure time – it’s supposed to be fun and entertaining not annoying and frustrating.
Don’t neglect Knight or Sentinel gear, sometimes it pays to be sturdy.

The point I was trying to make was that Precision and Crit are useless on Teq, so it’s better to stack attributes in other categories than waste them.

Compared to ascended gear, exotic is a joke to get, much less rare.
I much prefer this addition to the game that encourages variety, rather than a multiple-month process of getting a single set of marginally better gear.

All clerics or rabid gear of course.
If your lucky, you will be able to kill one of the champs that attacks the turrets by the time the event fails.
Get a set of Pvt and put in cheap kitten orbs/crests, salvage after for darkmatter
If Rocket Charge is only 2 leaps then it should look like 2 leaps

Right, but Knight gear is probably cheaper and more common than Soldier gear. It still has use protecting the cannons and have people pop off to help the main assault in a pinch.
