So I will admit, I’m a zerker type guy….and why shouldn’t I when i can dodge fairly well.

Yet, Tequatl comes out and renders me useless…and with PVT gear being so hard to come by….farming Badges for the WvW exotic version, Sentinel’s gear expensive as hell, and farming tokens for dungeon gear….

i found a Rare version of the Invaders gear in WvW that you can buy for just Karma i believe….

would the Rare 80 version be enough to fight Tequatl?

Depends on how much buffs you get from other players.

You can get PVT Exotic gear from the temples in Orr btw.

Sigils and potions of undead slaying are far more important to buff your dps, as precision and crit damage are rendered useless.

Get the PVT gear from the temples of Orr the only type you can’t get is a helmet with the PVT stats. Instead buy another helmet or get the WvW helm (it looks better anyway).

You want atleast an exotic weapon, if you can dodge the waves as part of the zerg and guardians do their job then it’s less of a problem. Zerker gear is still extremely good in the fight just your restricted to defending on lose a ton of DPS on the stun phase.

i would get the temple gear, but i currently do not have a lot of karma floating around atm….got around 70k and each piece of the rare version only costs like 4k each

any other thoughts?

yellow is ok – seriously its just 1 boss
and when you are zerkee use your zerker gear mixed with yellow soldier but dont need aslong as you dont die

more important is undead sigil on weapon and undead potion
rune of vampirism is fine too on your gear ( i think its op for this fight^^ but plz dont tell anyone^^)

If it’s all you’ve got and all you can afford then yes, it’s enough, one person in Rares doing the right thing is worth twenty people in full ascended doing the wrong thing.

No, if you are zerker, stick to killing the fingers or be in the turret defender groups, thats still helping a lot.

If your zerker, stay back and defend turrets. If you really want to land a hit on Teq, go PVT. Just know, because of the toughness boost you’ll take more aggro which means you’ll take damage even if you are the best dodger in the game (due to stamina refill time).

Your zerker gear and experience at burning stuff down in dungeons will make you an asset defending I think. One possible solution would be to get a cheap set of exotics with power and either vitality or toughness. Then use your traits and put 30 into power and 30 into your missing stat. Cause pvt gear is expensive in golds, karma, and wvw tokens. This was just an idea to look at other cheaper sets that may still do what you want. Idk is there a set like p/v/healing or p/t/healing?

ok call me crazy but is toughness really an asset for reducing incoming damage while dpsing the dragon? Not sure but I think most damage I take is from poison? Maybe Ive had my pvt blinders on.

Piling on as much power as you can reasonably afford is still doing better than nothing at all. Do what you can and hope you don’t get Team AFK watching your back on the south turrets.

I’m always in front of Teq in zerker and i have no problem, sometimes i got downed but hey, kitten happens everyone!

If you can dodge and jump well enough, yes rare is fine vs teq.

I agree with what ppl say about defending though. Turret defence is very important and a high dpser is invaluable there

You can get a full Exotic set of PVT gear from a few runs in AC (still pretty easy, just not all 3 paths in 45 mins easy )

hotw p1 is also very fast, same deal with p2 except the final boss of p2 is underwater with a health pool of “over 9 million” lol

I think people would prefer you take exo zerker than rare PVT.

The loss in the power stat is far too great and you would be hindering the DPS.

If all you have is berserker gear, wear it but trait for power, toughness, and max vitality. You can use heavily traited banners and shouts in the zerg and your dps will still be high without critting or as much survivability. Too many people want to be in the turret area or are just afk. Using a war on fingers is kind of a waste. Ele, War, Mes, and Guard definitely need to be the zerg buffing, healing, reflecting, dropping summoned weapons, etc.

I personally wouldn’t bother if you’re just going to go for rares. You’re better off with exotics as the difference will matter in this particular fight. After this week, I don’t see it being farmed as often so you’re wasting karma or whatever for subpar gear that was bought for a single purpose.

Rare P/V/T is ok but as others have said, Exotic P/V/T is very easy to acquire. Look at it this way, Zerker is the preferred choice for PvE but having a P/V/T set cannot hurt. If you ever decide to do WvW or if more content is released that requires P/V/T like Tequatal it will be nice to have. I say just get it and swap to it when you need too.
