Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
It's ONE DAY OLD
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Yeah I tried a dungeon for the first time…and then the second time…and it wasn’t fun dying a billion times, not being able to self rez and holding back the guys I was playing with…so I don’t do them anymore.
You make a valid point. I pug dungeons most of the time (okay all of the time) and most of the time people don’t say use voice chat or anything like that and sometimes the dungeon just fails.
I think you’re right that people just need to learn how to do the fight and what rule they should play. I will say when I tried I failed at it while playing my ele. One: I wasn’t in the right spec for the event I was still speced for soloing which meant d/d for me and was trying to use a staff instead.
Most of the time content is going to be tough the first time you try. I will admit dying a lot made it frustrating, but I am an ele, I’ve tried many specs and found no matter what I am going to die or get one shot by bosses if I don’t dodge, that’s just the class. Eventually ever server (or a lot of them) will get a hang of it and down him.
Dungeons are 5 men instances (you can strategise and coordinate) with no time limit.
This is a 80+ men open-world event with very good chances to end up on overflow with an unforgiving timer.
This is not a learn to play isssue.

Too many people on the forums drawing the wrong concluions.
Just because it has been done right after launch (when interest is high, and people aren’t yet too demotivated), doesn’t mean it will carry on like that in the future. It is more likely that due to frustration people will stop bother and Tequatl will just despawn every time.
Right it is one day old. You know..that first day which has peak concurrency.
No elitist falacies like “l2play” are a bad excuse to justify badly balanced content.
While admittedly people should and will get better at it, the bar is just high for about any lower population server and newer players. Proof of this is how the only servers to accomplish this have been Blackgate and Desolation, both Very High PvE population servers which probably had a bunch of hardcore players from other servers guesting in them at the time too. This is with the optimal condition where the event is new and most people actually want to be involved rather than doing something worth their time.
It seems people have forgotten this is a world boss and as time goes this is supposed to be beatable by less people on an occasional basis without the massive coordination that went into beating it. New people, which I suppose the game wants, will perpetually not know what to do and just be frustrated. As time extends people wont even want to participate in the event because its either to frustrating or they already did it and don’t want to deal with it again; all in all this becomes unbeatable and content that would be better off simply not existing as no one is doing it and the small groups that want to are in no way able to. Like the scarlet events which I still have to see a successful invasion past the initial release, people lose interest and the “permanent content” is as good as non existent.
This is not an elite area, it is not something that can easily be organized, its simply impossible for lower population servers and the rewards are in no way proportional to the difficulty.

I hope ANet just ignore those who are whining, people need to learn that they dont need to complete all the content within the next hour after release.
My best try was 50% and I’m happy about it, give some time to people and try to coordinate better, the feeling of beat hard content worth it, stop asking for easy mode content please, we already have plenty of them.
Happy Birthday Tequatl!
That something can be beaten doesn’t mean it’s fun. I simply don’t enjoy that sort of content. Had I wanted that, there would have been plenty of games for me to buy other than GW2. There is a -reason- why I bought this one, you know?

Well there are dozens of other world bosses you can fight, or not fight, who really cares you can do whatever you want in this game or whatever you don’t want. I didn’t like Liadri in the Gauntlet because I didn’t want to put the effort into learning the fight—so I didn’t fight her…I also didn’t complain that it wasn’t fun, I just didn’t effing do it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Many people complaining just want to see the game succeed. People not playing content is the worst thing that can happen to a game. If a company has too many releases in a row that go like that, it can be devastating to them.

Your point is valid, as long as they don’t change more world bosses in this fashion, because if they do, it’s obviously less easy to just go do something else.
Now if the hardcore side could enlighten me why they didn’t heed to exactly THAT advice and just bought another game in the first place? There are dozens of other games to play having EXACTLY that sort of content we were oh-so missing here, no?

Because they are entitled to difficult content. And we should stop complaining. Because we are not entitled to get playable content.
The hardcore crowd should be asking for real elite content like the Underworld and Fissure of Woe and Domain of Anguish in gw1 and not trying to justify badly balanced content like Tequatl to be kept the same just so it becomes a ghost town once people stop caring at all and it quickly just becomes impossible and inacessible even to their “elite” selfs.

Is it “badly balanced” because your server can’t do it, while others can?
Just people who are skilled and know how to react.
Translation: Just WP to a different boss/map if dumped into Overflow.
Teq isn’t worth doing now, and it isn’t going to be worth it when all of the people that knew what they were doing quit doing it and everyone else quit because they couldn’t double tap to dodge.

Sea of Sorrows, a server never before so appropriately named.
I wonder how many days (or weeks) the ‘elite pve servers’ will bother spending hours of every day trying to beat him before they lose interest or move on to something else, at which time the co ordination won’t be there and it will become
‘How many days/weeks/months is it since a server beat Teq?’
There is a very simple solution- remove the stupid timer (that goes for all bosses, not just this one). The timer just makes it impossible for smaller servers or those that don’t have a well developed ts mentality. Then scale the rewards so you get something for each 25% down, and only have a chance at an ascended and the full 100 dragonite if you were there for each 25%.
This will satisfy everyone- the ‘elites’ can have a competition to see who can set the best time (screenshots required, Anet can verify a new ‘fastest’), whilst the lower population servers can still finish it (it might take an hour or so, but will be an achievement).
And lose 50% of it’s HP or fix your scaling – 20 or 30 people trying it on a lower population server or people who play at 2-3am have precisely no chance of getting it done once the initial rush dies down.
Is it “badly balanced” because your server can’t do it, while others can?
I would say it is badly balance because it doesn’t take into account the causal or average player, that is supposed to be this games target demographic. He has been killed 3 times (2 times by Blackgate, once by Desolation). But there are 41 worlds. He has been out for 24 hours and with a 1 1/2 hour repawn that would be roughly 656 spawns not counting overflows (granted people are still learning it, and I am not calling for a nerf yet), but with at least 656 attempts (probably closer to 1000) & 3 wins it seems like it is out of balance.
That’s about the same chance you will get a precursor out of the MF, which people constantly complain about already, do we really need something else that is less than a 1% chance? Even Liadri was completed by around 5% of the population on the first day. Not to mention it is very much luck based, you have to hope you have decent players that know how to stack, hope you are able to even get into the event (unless you camp there for hours) and hope that none of your turret guys are AFK. So I would say it probably needs some tweaks, not necessarily a nerf. And while we do need more challenging content for some of the hardcore players, World Bosses probably shouldn’t fit in that category, as this is a bit over board for the average player.
Maybe just give it a longer timer? Or have a secondary event to extend the time somehow? Or make it instanced so organized groups can do it?
