Just not fun
I personally am not going to bother with Teq because of the garbage rewards you get…
It’s supposed to be challenging. It may be difficult for you to grasp, but there are people who enjoy and have fun doing things that challenge them and make them expand their limits.
Im not going to bother with him since i hate timers and i also hate one-hit-kills, so i will simply ignore it.
Only problem is, that i now also have to deal with tha timers at Jormags Claw, and that is something i really dislike since i also often fought him late at night with just a few people.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I understand you feel the way you do. I don’t have a difficult time grasping that people like challenges. I just felt the need to share my personal opinion by creating a topic. Your insinuation that I am unable to grasp elementary concepts is much appreciated.
The Taco upgrade is a bit over the top, but cool overall. For me the real fun will begin once the LFG tool is available.

I apologize for my unnecessary tone, but more than enough topics have been created asking for nerfs, already.
most servers won’t listen to strategies or can’t play with well others, so unfortunately most servers will end up giving up rather quickly. that’s why i’m guesting, not only will you (maybe) have a better chance to win, though the mentality of that group can be better towards this fight. people tend to do things like ~ achievements, things from new patches, bosses, dungeons, and other things ~ super quick because in the following days people lose interest in great content like this quite fast. people say “it’s only the first day” in which i completely agree, though it gets super hard to find people later on to do these events with.

Not to worry, after two weeks no one will be fighting Tequatl, everyone will be off completing the next living story and it will be impossible to achieve the required number of players to fight him. Apart from that if anyone decides to fight a boss they will all go fight the others where they can guarantee a loot chest rather than wasting time.
Personally I hate anything with an arbitrary timer attached, no reason for it apart from to stress people and potentially deny a loot chest, it is quite obviously a bad design choice.

No it’s cool. I DO get it. I mean, when I was a kid I lvl’d to 255 on Breath of Fire I just by killing slides for 3 months. Haha I LOVE a challenge. I am just not having fun because I really feel like there is going to be a mass exodus away from this boss. It just bums me out is all.

this is exactly the problem, that why people tend to do events like this super fast. after a little while people loose interest and get so much harder to find people to do this with. people have found out that if they don’t do new events ~ such as this one ~ or other ones down the line super fast, then it’s just frustrating as heck to go out and find people for it.

You dont actually need whole server, 3-4 guilds that are willing to do it right way should be enough imo, time will tell. If anything, i would love if all petty world event reward chasers give up on teq meaning there will be less auto att afk-ers and also more fps for me!
Servers that consist from majority of players unwilling to put some effort into this will have hard time, which is good too. Find some guilds on your server, organize and dont rely on randoms zerg.

So much this ^
Hopefully only the most hardcore of players will stay. There will be guilds that coordinate together to do Tequatl just as there are guilds that do Karka Queen together.
The problem is that these fights just aren’t fun. One-shotting and chain cc’ing and all the other tired Anet gimmicks in these fights is just frustrating. You don’t feel like it’s a challenge when 10 krait magically appear on top of you and take turns reeling you in, cc’ing and then killing you. You feel like you’ve been scammed.
When you’re just another anonymous face in the zerg feeling like your contributions to the fight accomplish nothing and you’re just dodging red circles and endlessly rezzing the dead, where is the sense of achievement? If “we” (never “me”) beat the dragon, I don’t think I’d be all that excited because it depends way more on what the other 79 people do than it does on what I do.
If you could somehow leap on top of the dragon and do an instant 10 percent damage by impaling him in the head with your greatsword, that would be epic. You know, something that makes your contribution stand out, if only in your own experience of the fight.
There is fun hard and stupid hard, and the distinction between the two has less to do with the difficulty level than the mechanics of the fight and your role in it. Tequatl leans way to far towards stupid hard to be much fun.

You can always play single player games if you despise interacting with other people inside games.

Where did I say I despise interacting with other people? Did you read what I wrote? If you have nothing meaningful to say then don’t say it.

I don’t get this mentality. Why is it a good thing to have a major content release that only hardcore guilds will only very rarely complete? Why is there this desire for content that people hope chases away the majority of players?
Karka Queen and Southsun Cove is basically a ghost town most of the time. At least Orr has been getting some attention now that temples are a bit more worth running.
I haven’t given up on Teq yet, but I haven’t yet found the ‘fun’ in the event. There are other things in the game that I don’t find fun, so I don’t do them. Its not a big deal since there are still lots of fun other things to do.
The fun is the organising part. Atleast for me that was. I intended to do one teq event today and then log off.
But I hopped on our servers TS and just stayed around. It’s fun organising and getting people work together. It’s frustrating at times, but you know that beforehand.
And the ultimate reward was finishing him off after about 10 tries. That feeling and vibe on TS. Insane.
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
So far it hasn’t been fun, but I don’t blame the event, I blame the lack of motivation and willingness to work together with people that I get a lot because most kids just want the rewards after throwing a few swings and calling it a day. What? This time we have to actually think about how we organize and strategize our attacks and learn how to work together with others to get the job done?
I’m hoping as the days go by, people get their stuff together and starting realizing that you can’t do this without putting your “I got this, move aside and let me do my thing” attitudes away and working with everyone.
I have tried ALL NIGHT to beat Tequatl and my server is dead. Only a handful of people ever show up. So I go server hopping to find any server that has a decent amount of people interested in killing him, and I get stuck IN THE STUPID OVERFLOW SERVERS, and not only that, they have so many overflows that as soon as I get out of the queue in one, I get put in another! The people in those servers didn’t even know how to use the turrets properly! I’m dying over here man. People will sit there and try to attack Tequatl using the actions that cure the poison gases over and over since it’s the fastest regenerating skill and they don’t realize that it does NOTHING to him!
I need a server I can guest on to actually get the achievements. I’ve gotten all of them except the ones you get for killing him! My server is full of lazy idiots who farm the easy starting area events and old people who do nothing but make fun of the noobs and make them feel stupid when they ask legit questions. It’s always dead and I’ve never been able to do any living world events on it because of it. I usually guest in Darkhaven but they’re dead as a doorknob as well.
I even tried to be nice and teach these kids how to use the turrets during down time between spawn windows, and some of them even got it down quickly, but when **** goes down, everything they learn goes out the window and they go back to doing the same thing and get themselves killed and whine for a rez every 5 seconds.
