One Hit Kills on players
Full knight armor mesmer here and the same story, im with this stats (power/precision/toughness) because i wanted make myself a bigger room for mistakes, so if something big hit me ill still be able to blink back and heal, but now with these bosses there is no matter if you are full dps or tank, you die in one hit no matter what…
Full berzerker gear here and it did no damage to me. Know why? I hit space.
Message me any time in game.
i’m a zerker mesmer with 30/30/0/0/10 at 15k hp no xtra armor, i didnot get 1 shotted at either teqatl or golem mark II.
teq – avoid shockwave, aoe rings dont 1 shot u, creeps dont 1 shot u.
golem mark 2 – dodge boss’s chain hits, avoid lightening areas
it’s a good thing, and no the previous stand and hit at a spot with no damage taken was bad

well, at 6 fps its kinda hard to dodge/hit space every time its needed…………………………….. and talking about this ANET, pls optimise this game, i need it to use my VIDEO CARD more and my CPU less, ty

Undead fish heads (at least that is what they look like). One hit down on anyone I have seen when it explodes. Dodging will reduce the damage by 100%, however it sucks rocks when they are partially hidden in the tall grass or spawn right beside you and go off. Middle ground is something that is a concept that is, I fear, lost on ANet. With the sheer amount of fish heads in that area it becomes a mine field for anyone just walking by. Even at a 75% damage per explosion would give fair warning (chance to heal) to players, but I guess with their new champ loot being offered they need to offset it with player repairs to balance it out.
I got my achievement for jumping the wave. i was dodging(my dodge heals me) Healing(i’m a scepter shield guardian) my dodge was empty from dodging most of the fight and 7-8 times i was 1 hit killed. With my toughness/healing power and 25k hp nothing should 1 hit me. ever.
it’s more of a cpu based game than gfx, i’v got i5 3570, gtx 660.. that’s quite decent and not over the top.. and i got about 25 fps in teq excluding shadows and character models at low
One shots will never go away in this game….ever.

There is no such thing as a tank in this game. It was designed as such. You can build to soak some more damage but it won’t save you from these things. You need to dodge, move, and jump over waves. Builds that let you afk soak damage in the open world is not going to help you here.

The animation is about 3 seconds long. The wave takes about a second or two to get to you. If you can’t dodge that because of lag, get a new comp.
Message me any time in game.
i don’t “afk soak” the use of dodges to supplement properly timed blocks/heals makes soaking dmg possible. in the zone i was in we reduced his hp by 2% the whole time. because so many players were dead so often from the 1 hit kills. i am used to seeing players drop around me and a few hang with me. these fights were different everyone went down like they were in no vitality/toughness light armor basic rarity gear.
the waves are fine as a one shot mechanic imho. what I dislike are the oneshot ‘unknown hits you for 12000 with explode’ (I have 8k health or so) attacks. they can’t be dodged as they can’t be seen, are cast over great distances and have no tells whatsoever.. sometimes a red circle will be seen after the effect took place though.
or the new risen brute whirl attack. not champs or vets, normal mobs with an instahit attack for 7k.
shows how great they are at designing an encounter to be annoying instead of hard.
other than the wave, the big idiots suicide, and so do some of the normal creeps, can dodge outta the suicide and @ warlock.7136 – just to mention again, i’m a zerker mesmer and never got 1 shotted in the fight (jump shockwaves, avoid suicides)
My guardian is speced to tank damage and can barely survive 1 fish head with 124 hp remaining. in fact nothing in the fight was really deadly to me except the bloody champion maggot that WIPED the entire western shore.
We got to the first megalaser stage with 0:11 remaining, and lost the north generator.
My suggestion would be that once you fire the megalaser the timer is reset to 15:00.
Oh seriously? They resorted to one hit KOs? That’s beyond cheap. The lag with 80 players, culled or not, has got to be awful and no one anywhere in the entire history of video gaming has thought one hit KOs were awesome. I bet latency is pretty horrid too which means you have players, skilled players, fighting the game engine – not the actual encounter – and getting kittened by it. Just beautiful.
Also, “get a new computer”? Great. Give me the $700 I need since money grows on trees for you.
Oh wait, people on newer computers are STILL having lag issues. Make it $2000 for whatever set up Anet has.
Forever known as “that slow guardian who can’t jump worth crap”.
I think this is going to become karka queen territory pretty fast.
Most people can’t see the waves coming due to all the other effects firing off, the poison clouds, and the terrible frame rate, and by the time you see the wave it’s too late to react.
The exploding fish heads do crazy damage and most of the time you can’t even see them before they blow you up (see clouds above).
On top of that, instant overflows make trying to organise guild groups next to impossible as the 15 minute limit means by the time you are even remotely organised 2-3 minutes have already past.
Anet seem to think people are going to stand there for hours waiting for the spawn- not going to happen, they will just go elsewhere.
I tried in my tankiest engineer build and was insta killed- then I tried normal wvw build, same result, may as well not bother racking up the repair bills.
End result, 50-60 of us in an overflow maybe got it down around 5%.
Conclusion: if you get in an overflow, it’s very unlikely you will achieve anything so just port back out and go do something else, as it’s unlikely that your overflow will have enough players or be organised enough even in prime time to be able to get rewards.
Secondary conclusion: low population servers, this just became a ’don’t bother’ boss, same if you play at other times of the day when you won’t see enough people to be able to get anything and after a couple weeks people won’t bother trying.
Do I like the concept of harder boss fights? hell yes. Do I like one shot mechanics from things you can’t see and making things so hard it’s almost guaranteed auto fail on almost every map? hell no.
Go back to the drawing board Anet and give it some tweaks or you just created another no go zone like karka queen. No one likes one shot mechanics except thiefs (oh wait, you like those..)
u do know that karka queen is killed a lot these days?? and yes u still have people dead at karka queen, but u dont have tons of dead bodies like u used to. it’s called getting used to, and u can easily avoid the 1 hit stuff like shockwave.
so it would appear that this thread was taken down.(that or i can’t find it). anyways shorter version of my previous post. my full cleric exo/ascended accesory tank(guardian) went from getting compliments on his ability to take a hit. to dying from every boss from 1 hit strike. 1 hit kills shouldn’t be capable of being done on chars whose stats are designed entirely to soak dmg. i did these bosses everyday. but unless the dmg gets scaled back. I won’t be doing them anymore.
This game was designed specifically to prevent players from being “designed entirely to soak dmg.”
Then why have vit/toughness/healing on gear at all?

so what your saying is that we should all guest to t1 servers and not waste our time with smaller pop servers?
because the karka queen on my server hasnt actually been killed since the southsun update was over with.
and now the southsun cove is a giant karka hive with 0 players bar the gatherers.

yes… guest…. is that so hard?
There do seem to be a lot of high damage attacks even around the the cannons. I have to keep looking at my log wondering just what hit each time as I’m going down, since it seems safe and then I’m down. There are in fact both ‘unknown explosions’ for 10+ that I don’t know much about (from that description) and explosions from some veteran krait (when they die?) that both seem overpowered.

I don’t think it’s on death. it was an update about half a year back. I still remember their wording partially:
updated some of the kraits attacks to be more fun
the result was the explode attack you get from unknown source. it’s the same attack as the risen plague carriers have when they suicide near you, only it’s ranged and instant, you can’t see it coming nor evade. I’ve tested it a few times during the event near the heart quest up north, sometimes you see a red circle after the damage hit you.
yes. that is called a fun mechanic. you have to find that fun or go away. because it’s fun, the patchnotes said so!
