Browsing the forum, it seems a common denominator in player agitation is the effectiveness of players on the turrets. Be it a turret operator has performance issues, or is genuinely griefing, the overwhelming importance of those 6 players is surprising to see in such a large scale event.

This will be an unpopular suggestion, but I think it is necessary to have, or something similar.

Players on turrets receive a stacking debuff that forces turret operator rotation. I know it’s a clunky mechanic and can cause issues that don’t exist, but the fact is that players on turrets decide the success of this event.

Any thoughts or other suggestions as to how to deal with turret griefing?

Agreed, but then have a ‘cool down’ to prevent any single turret user from being ejected and then hopping back on.
Giving others a chance to play ‘gunner’

The thing is, even with competent turret operators, the players not on them need to do their part too. The Fingers are what spawn the poison fields, with enough of them up it can easily overwhelm turret operators trying to cleanse the area. Players not on the turrets need to destroy the fingers as fast as possible.
Not to mention the fact that the turrets are sitting ducks for the Risen that spawn in around them. They need players around to protect them from attacks.
There’s more to the turrets than just having nine players get on them and spam 2 & 3.
