Ok so here are my suggestions for Sunless, and how to better make the battle more managable but first of all let me say the encounter is fun but overly difficult, in fact it reminds me of the fight aginste The Sleeper which took 3 whole guilds (well over 180 people, I think we got around 220ish) to take him down and took around 3 hours (before the bug), it wasn’t fun the only reason I recall our guilds doing this was to prove a point or bragging rites.

At present, the boss fight seems…. barely winnable. The insane ammount of hitpoints he has is the biggest problem. Which then in turn makes the fight almost impossible to win because of the time limit.

At this present moment the only concievable way to win would be to have 10 or so warriors protecting the cannons (which need a hotfix asap, more on this later) and 70 elementals AoEing.

Which tbh will never happen because this isn’t a raid. It’s a open world encounter meaning not everyone their is min/maxed and fine tuned to fight Sunless.

So;

  1. Increase the timelimit to 20:00, have it reset on each successful megalaser shot or give ‘bonus time’.
  2. Reduce his health or add more turrets (he gains stacks faster than the turrets penetration goes off cooldown)
  3. Tiered rewards, each successful phase of the boss fight should reward the players. Naturally if you get to the final stage and beat him you get access to the best loot. Given how difficult he is prehaps;
    Tier 1 – Blue items and 3-5sp
    Tier 2 – Blue and/or a Yellow items and 6-10sp
    Tier 3 – Yellow or small chance of boss items 11-15sp
    Completed – You get a boss specific item (random) 16-20sp

The turrets:

Seriously please, fix the targetting. The number of times I seen my turret switch from Sunless to the hands was redicolous. If I target sunless it should at no point switch to the hands unless I say otherwise, making him untargetable when he rears back causes the problem not to mention the brief invincability frames make the fight so much harder.

To the players:

By no means is the fight impossible, no fight in MMO history has been. You just need to learn how to beat him however, I do agree that given this MMO is built around an open world enviroment rather than a organised based game that this fight although fun does get very dull quickly. Especially when their is little or no incentive to do it in the first place (the rewards, just arn’t worth it).

Easier fix: Increase his timer to 30 minutes.
