Tequatl NEEDS a Timer!
Agreed, come on Anet…….
Now that we lose the message in the top right hand corner of our screens, once TQ has been killed, we need some way of knowing that the TEQ event is about to start.
Now I know that Anet have said use a 3rd party event timer, but they are just not accurate, and how hard would it be to give us a message like when an invasion starts.
Without some sort of warning people will camp in main even more, preventing players that haven’t done TEQ from getting in.
It will also make it harder for many as gradually people just won’t turn up, I don’t want to sit in Sparkfly for hours waiting for TEQ.
When I saw your subject I was thinking “Tequatl HAS a timer! If we don’t finish her off in 15 minutes, we lose!” But I see what you mean, and I agree. A timer, or a regular time (15 minutes past the hour, every hour, or something like that) would be helpful and stress relieving. It would be nice to be able to organize and be ready.
As far as the existing time limit, I wish they’d get rid of that. Then the lower population servers and the casual player servers would have a chance. Might take an hour, but it is a fun fight with all the different forms of damage coming at you from all different directions.
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.

Yeah, a massive group event that requires preparation + partly random, unpredictable spontaneous spawn time = not ideal.
If it were a immersion-breaker issue, they could alternatively give it a pre-event or two, so people would know it’s coming in a few minutes. (same goes for the start of Arah chain, but they made it a lot easier, so..)
1. And there I was thinking that the removal of the timer would give overflows more of a fighting chance, removing the need to camp and idle for hours. Or jumping through hoops to get on the main server.
2. That happens with the timer as well. “Might as well look from a distance if it’s worth joining the fight”.
You’re really not making strong points for the timer…

“You’re really not making strong points for the timer…”
And your not making any strong points against an in game warning or notification.
The warning disappears as soon as you kill TEQ, not when you have all the achievements.
That means if you want some of the other achievements you have to either use a 3rd party timer, which I’m not keen on and is not reliable, or you have to camp out in Sparkfly, which is extremely boring, and not what I would call fun in any way shape or form.
You don’t want to use the in game notification, simply ignore it, problem solved.
I don’t need to make a point against an in game warning or notification because it isn’t relevant. Those warnings are a (poor) solution for a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place (the timer).
Dear Rammie.2843,
The fact is this fight is “NOT” something,
- that can just be zoned in and zerged through..
- that can be done with half the people in the zone afk..
- that can be done with people not assigned to their positions and doing their tasks..
IT is basically a typical RAID encounter where you start all together and depend on each other to be alert.
HENCE:
1. You either start the encounter when ready… or..
2. You are ready when the encounter starts.. There is NO other way..
It is like a football game, you don’t rush out from the shower room with people saying “oh the match started”
BOTTOM LINE:
Timer is needed
or a way to kick off the event like Karka Queen is needed..
I don’t need to make a point against an in game warning or notification because it isn’t relevant. Those warnings are a (poor) solution for a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place (the timer).
Funny how it “isn’t relevant” when it suits you.
It sounds like Rammie is talking about disliking the 15 minute kill timer and wanting that removed, while the thread is talking about wanting a regular spawn timer to know when the event will start.
I don’t think Anet will be removing the 15 minute kill timers, so it would be really really great if we had a regular spawn time, or even some pre-event that lets us know it’s going to happen soon.
As it is, the most warning we get is a few seconds when the fish heads disappear and that’s only if the previous kill was unsuccessful!
I’ve seen the event fail so many times because either everyone was prepped early but got bored and out of place by a late spawning time, or the dragon spawned early, and no one was back from afk yet.
I agree with Taisia, either a timer is needed or a way to start the event is needed.
+1
It’s such a nuisance when half the players are afk because they thought the dragon will arrive in an hour….
What Tequatl needs is not a timer, but a pre event.
And some one please make that stupid Krait event restart less often, it is very annoying. No one even bothers with defending the lab any more, because as soon as that event is completed, it gets attacked again, and again, and again.
