Tequatl Rising too little content?
First time in quite awhile I’ve seen a “too little content” thread here.

How about its fine, considering most of us are burnt out on content, and have regular school/college/work schedules now
Furthermore, I bet this is content that was NOT designed by the living story teams. This is content that was being worked behind the scenes by a separate team.
I bet they are taking these four weeks off to catch up on projects and refine them.

I appreciate that this is actual permanent content and that reason alone is enough to give a mighty thumbs up to this patch.
I prefer smaller more tuned content like this that will actually stay not to mention its a start to fixing the glaring problem that is world bosses. Better than larger scale rushed content imo.
I hope the other dragons are next on the list.
It would be nice to keep having a break… I’m sure lots of people still need SAB work, 100% exploration work, work on alts, etc. The frantic pace of the living story really demanded all my time, at least.
There also might be stuff not in the preview.
second patch of the month is always smaller to start with. These are both also content changes instead of content additions. Hopefully this means the actual living story teams have more time to polish their content.
I would be very happy if they did 1 LS patch a month and 1 update patch a month. It would give everyone more time to polish things, give a better pace to the content, make old content better, more exciting and more polished, and give people more of a chance to get out into the world instead of desperately trying to keep up with the LS.
Kind of makes sense to me. The last month or so was pretty heavy content wise, so this month we have SAB (which is a lot of content but lighter in context) and an update to some world bosses. It’s a nice change in pace after all the Aetherblade / Scarlet stuff.
Maybe they have a much bigger one coming? This whole month has been small. So living team must be working on something bigger.
Yeah, your answers makes sense. Probably something huge coming next month, new zone/zones maybe and a new dungeon?
Next month is October. Halloween. I wouldn’t count on much new stuff for that month, just a few updates on last year’s event.
Which is a good thing, I think. It gives the Devs a chance to gather our feedback on the LS updates, learn from it, decide where they’re going from here, and get things going. Hopefully, that will allow them to hit the ground running with good updates, instead of more villains that come across as something written by Stephenie Meyer.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I think this is perfect conten for mid month release if they insist on 2 week releases. Really looking forward to this – can’t say I’m running out of things to do this month!
Basically I’d call this a quality of life/tuning update. Not too heavy on new content, but taking extra time to update quality of old content beyond the minor/side patches. The LFG tool alone will keep me busy running for Empyreal Fragments and Dragonite Ore over the next two weeks for sure.
We needed the break.
Finally a more relaxed type of release. Hopefully the devs have taken on board that Living story every two weeks is too much.
Great little update
This is probably one of my favourite updates yet as they’re finally revisiting older content and bringing it to life. Also, the WvW map changes are pretty huge.
Completely disagree with OP, we have had too much content as of late. With this update they are actually giving us a LFG tool which is a quality of game update and not just something to do for two weeks until the the next thing happens.
Maybe we should wait until the patch is actually here before stating it has too little content?
I am quite sure we had more or less exactly the same thread back with the “Queen’s Speech” update and that was rather massive.

October is coming. They’re probably taking September off for living story to work on the Halloween story.

While I don’t expect them to do a complete 180 like they did with the queens speech I do expect more story due to
To stop this rampaging beast, you’ll join forces with old friends and new allies in a desperate battle where failure is a very real option.
LFG tool, WvW getting orbs back (or something similar) after all this time, and bosses get worked on to not be a zergfest.
These are long overdue and I’m glad living story is taking a break to get this stuff in-game.
Now all we need is new skills and traits…
I’m so glad to get a break from big content updates! Maybe I can get back into WvW now
In terms of additional story, there isn’t much here. But they are doing a LOT to fix a lot of the most common encounters in the game. This is a quality update if I’ve ever seen one.
And LFG tool? That’s HUGE!

No, as I have a feeling that everything we’re getting on the 17th was not created by the SAB Living Story team, but instead by the respective teams the content relates to.
Therefore I don’t consider these updates to be Living Story. I like it that way, SAB is time consuming enough to last a whole month.

I believe this is true. During the GW2 Living Story PAX panel, ANET stated that in addition to their Living Story teams, they now have a new team dedicated to boss encounters, both new and old. I believe we can expect to see frequent updates like this in between Living Story and Holiday events.
You should also consider the fact that they gave us these ascended weapons to work on which is no easy task if you’re not buried in gold. I don’t think they’d want to drop another QJ/Scarlet sized load on us before people take it all in.
With Champ farms, ascended material gathering, invasions still occurring, and the school season back in, Arenanet has some very busy players on their servers.
I appreciate this update and am looking forward to it.
Once again the PvE zerg crowd can only see their side of the story.
We’re also getting the LFG tool which is huge for dungeon runners.
We’re also getting a massive change to borderlands in WvW.
But I guess that doesn’t really change anything in your Ascended farming, so it’s not “content”?
I consider this a break from all the temporary festivals and parties that went on for way too frequently it’s gotten a little too much and I feel burnout or overstuffed by them. I’m glad they mixed things up a little with revamping existing content and some permanent content and QoL features. Thank you ANet!
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
I’m happy with this upcoming update. We’re not talking about more temporary content. We’re talking about a LFG tool which the community has been calling for for months. And GW2’s first raid-style boss. These are both pretty big changes, the first of which will change how we play dungeons/fractals, and the second of which might determine how Anet approaches new large-scale content. I think the data gathered after this patch will be heavily scrutinized by the devs. How we play as a result of this (and the last champion update) will impact the future of this game.

This is great that it’s smaller in scale. They launch this, start leagues at the start of October then do Halloween.
They have all the way until November for the next 100% unique update. With the combined might of 4 teams that can pump out new small zones with new content every 2 weeks, give them 2 months….
I would not think it impossible we’ll finally get a new permanent zone like Southsun. Perhaps the Crystal Desert or parts of the Far Shiverpeaks might open up?
I for one have been hoping they’d use the holiday season to prepare some more major and permanent updates.
Too little content…? Please look at the current state of WvW and what they are adding to WvW in the patch instead of spoon feeding PvE players gold this patch. TY have a good day.
I’d rather quality content over quantity. There has been a lot of garbage “content” this year.
I would say that SAB World 2 alone (not even Tribulation Mode included) beats in quantity all last month content together.
If we really think on it, last month we got little more than a new small and simple zone and some events randomly dropped on already existing ones.
Both opening story modes where little more than short cutscenes with just a bit of player interaction; not much different from what we get after ending SAB World 2 and what we may get on the next update.
Air Balloons were just an improved version of the annoying kite Baskets, Dragon Effigies, … Good news, but still nothing special at all.
The dungeon was just a instanced version of the queen pavilion with some random patrols, one really simple event and Scarlet, who wasn’t impressive at all. Really far from what we experienced on Molten Facility and Aetherblade Hideout.
Queens Gauntlet was maybe the only interesting and innovative content released during last month.
The insane usage the content got is a completely different thing, much more related to the farming capabilites it offered than to the real amount of content.
It doen’t matter how many hours I spent farming Deadeye Dunwell or Aetherblade champions, they are nothing but a veteran-kind foe and a really basic event.
Maybe there’s a reason for this or am i overestimating ArenaNet?
Well… you do know what is on the 17th… right? Personally I am very glad the content is rather small.
Ascended weapons + SAB + New Teq =’s enough for one month. If they put in any more they would just burn out more players.

In the update coming the 17th we get Tequatl Rising which gives us a reworked Tequatl fight, world bosses got stronger, the looking for group tool and some new stuff to wvwvw. A great update with needed changes and additions!
Now when there’s 4 teams working on one update each they have 8 weeks (2 months) to work on content to be released. I think the content in this update is a little bit weak, could have been more. Maybe there’s a reason for this or am i overestimating ArenaNet?
Each team is given 3 months because they do paired content updates, not just singular ones. By that I mean that both Queen’s Jubilee and Clockwork Chaos was done by the same team for the same month (just as Cutthroat Politics & Bazaar of the Four Winds; Dragon Bash & Sky Pirates; Secrets of Southsun & Last Stand at Southsun). That’s just a correction I had to place in there.
But, we must look at the most obvious. SAB is SUPER POPULAR. Even with the mishaps with World 2, it’s still a very popular content. Being that it’s 4 weeks long, whatever 2-week patch goes in mid-September (Te’Quatl Rising) will see some overshadowing by the SAB. It would be foolish of them to create a big content patch on the lines of say Aetherblade Retreat, only to have it be parallel to SAB….one would overshadow the other in popularity and it would be wasted content on A.Net’s part.
Another thing to consider is future content coming up in the next few months.
~Ready for content overload?
1) October is going to have Halloween out the wazoo. We’ll have returning mini-games of Lunatic Inquisition and Reaper’s Rumble. Zones will be plagued with doors from the Mad Realm opening up for Thorn’s minions to come through (presumably in a much grander fashion than singular skeletons like last year). Inside the Mad Realm itself is a whole area of events and Champions for players to kill. Clock Tower anyone? Yep, that’s to return. And we may have another chance to once again go toe-to-toe with the Mad King himself in his own realm.
2) November is going to have something, but don’t know what yet. If the first patch in October (the one prior to the predictable Halloween one) isn’t going to be Fractals, which it’s assumed it will not be, then they will fall into the November patch. What Fractals? Why the Aetherblade Retreat, Molten Weapons Facility, and Thaumanova Reactor, of course. They won’t release around Wintersday, so that removes December from the window, and October it’s assumed the same thing as to why Sep 17th’ patch is light (no overshadowing the bigger content updates with other bigger content updates in the same monthly cycle). So we’ll see new Fractals in November. But why stop at Fractals? Some sort of Legendary Accessory is to release in 2013 (according to devs @ PAX)….and why not have said unique gear type release at the same time that new permanent [partial]dungeon types are added into the game? Yep, I’m seeing November as the perfect window for releasing that type of gear set with that type of dungeon set.
3) December, as mentioned above, will see Wintersday. That’ll be return of Tixx’s flying toy shop (though said to be destined to a different city other than LA….that’ll be a hoot if true). It means we’ll get Snow ball mini-game as well as Bell Choir too. Toys may or may not be the center stage calamity, but there’s certainly going to be some hassle that will give players an instanced type holiday themed dungeon to participate in.
Welcome to GW2’s Fall to Winter transition. Enjoy your content overload…..
Hahaha we can only wish…
No, Tequatl Rising will probably have plenty of content added. And add at least 50 new bugs. Instead of fixing the 200+ introduced bugs over the course of the living story.
I wish there would be an actual patch with no content at all :/
Ascended weapons + SAB + New Teq =’s enough for one month. If they put in any more they would just burn out more players.
Don’t confuse ascended weapons with new content. It’s one new skin set (with colour variations) and a bunch of crafting materials added to content people have been playing for over a year now. Ascended gear added the illusion of something new, but it’s just the same old stuff you’ve been doing for the last 12 months.

It’s still a kittenload of time consuming stuff you gotta go do though… which was my main point

I like that they update their original content every now and then, it makes the foundations of the game so much better. Also, I only have time to play in the evening now so having less content being pushed out and more original content being polished is just what I’d like
PvP too little content*
Complaining about not getting a lot of free content. Talk about entitlement.
Besides i think most people here would gladly welcome a few weeks of not having to chase 15 achievements across half a dozen events. Especially when it coincides for a lot of players with the grind for Ascended weapons.
I’d say smart move not putting out a lot, let people take their time getting Ascended stuff and letting the market settle a bit.
I for one will enjoy having a two week breather where I can go back to playing the actual game.
As an achievement completionist, these two-week cycles have become somewhat cumbersome.
If this means better world bosses, it’ll greatly change a lot of content, I think it’s a great path to go down. The core needs polishing a bit more lfg will really really help too.
While I appreciate a small break in content, I think the driving force behind this update is obvious.
Players complained that the game is too silly and they wanted serious and menacing with more dragons…. enter godzilla.
“almost” insulted at how shallow that driving force is and how unoriginal the creativity is behind it, but at least they are trying.
I’m a big fan of all the changes, though I would’ve liked, maybe, a bit of a story scene where we learn how Tequatl became more powerful?
For me this is a month with no Living Story updates at all.
Ascended Weapons … permanent update with no relation to the LS
SAB .. i can’t see how that is related to the living world in any form
Tequatl … just a Boss overhaul
