Then dont use conditions build on this boss or zerk build, conditions wont do much and you cant crit him so go max power and healing to be most effective in the zerg

True. You can’t crit hit dragons. I hear they count as structures or something like that.

You will get credit for the event even if you don’t attack Teq yourself, so help your team and take out the forces hampering the lasers and hylek turrets.

Yeah it means you cannot just stand at one spot and hammer your skills anymore if you want to be effective.

Oh look, this thread again! LOL, sorry, Im just being a troll at this point. But really, @Tom Gore makes a great point. I watched the youtube vid and the encounter looks awesome! Tons of different stuff to do, plenty of roles that need to be played to achieve success. I for one cannot wait to take my <<insert whatever class/build you want>> into the fight and have a blast killing a dragon!

You guys do realize his on a 15 min timer, which means if you don’t dps efficiently, you lose the encounter.

I think the 15 minute fail timer would disagree with you…

I think you can crit them, but maybe they don’t get enough crit damage.

I’m saying that because I fought the shatterer with very few people around when the invasions were on full swing while playing my condition damage specced mesmer.

When he landed after he flies up, all conditions were back at 0, I had 2 phantasmals duelists out that apply bleeding when they crit, and I definitively saw the bleeds go up fast when they attacked (each duelist do 12 attacks, which means 6-10 stacks of bleeding each) and at least few of them weren’t from other players because if I hovered the mouse over the bleeding it didn’t say “source: XXX” as it says if another player applied them.

Since crits are my only source of bleeding (illusions apply bleeding on crit + superior sigil of earth that has 60% chance of bleeding on hit), I was definitively getting crits on him.

You can’t crit dragons, keep in mind bleeding is THE easiest and most common condi to apply across the board, EVERY profession but Guardian can actually apply bleeding, so them going up quickly when he lands just means everyone and their grandma was using a bleeding skill.

80 people, all amazing DPS, all at the dragon is a less successful fight than condi users keeping max stacks and throwing epidemics, wells, caltrops, fire traps, and whatever other field effects at everything that so much as glances at those turrets.

DPS alone simply can not win this fight, and condi builds simply posess better sustained uniform DPS and control versus waves of trash due to control effects sharing the condition duration stat with damaging conditions.

It’s kind of obvious where condition and control builds fit in to this fight, and why they’re essential to the win.

But that’s the thing… if someone else applied the last stack of bleeding, when I hover over the bleeding condition it says “source: XXX”, if it doesn’t show it means that it was me who applied it, and the only way I can apply it is by critting, unless it happened to glitch out and not show it at that particular time.

I’ve had bleeding, burning and all other conditions not show a source in such large scale events… and seeing as how my pet can go entire dragon fights without gaining a single stack of companions might… yeah there’s no way critting is going on…

You can only crit world bosses during their “stun” phase. For teq it is when he is hit by the laser, for jormag it is when he is stunned by the bombs/crumbling wall, etc, etc…

Otherwise you can not crit world bosses.
