Yup, I avoid all PVE for the most-part because I find it extremely boring and not challenging. Finally we have pve content that requires a community to band together, and fight in an organized manner in pve. I hope there is more content like this coming.

Tequatl is a nice fight, it’s a refreshing change from most PVE. My only concern is, once this is no longer new in a couple weeks, how hard is it going to be to actually get a large and coordinated enough group together to kill him? That’s already near impossible for a lot of servers, putting even more load on the servers who are doing it regularly through guesting.

And please don’t compare this to Liadri. That fight was poorly designed in every way, from the poor visibility floor, being in the same area as large farming groups causing framerate issues, the cramped arena affecting the camera, and the reliance on nothing but cheap one-shot kills for difficulty. Tequatl is something that actually takes skill and coordination, rather than just spamming dodge and block nonstop.

Yep, thanks for putting content easily ruined by afk people and trolls in open world, making it so only large guilds and groups can complete them by hijacking overflows or home worlds for themselves to avoid having the people mentioned above – by effectively creating instances for themselves. Causing those people to go in any real overflow and making this event near impossible to finish there.

If you intended to make a raid content, just make a raid content. Instanced and with the instruments to kick afk people, trolls and people who aren’t willing to work for a goal.
Otherwise avoid ruining other open world events.
Because while i like a challenge, i don’t like seeing a couple random people being able to ruin it for an hundred other ones.

This is coming from a person who has never done elite level content before. Played WoW and never got to raid. Always heard about it. Was somewhat intimidated by the dedication or the organization that went into it.

With that said, I’m a native of Blackgate and really wanted to try my hand at Teq this weekend. I joined a few PUGs in overflow and never got beyond 25%. Rather than quit and do something else, I googled the server TS. Learned about taxi joining into main. Listened to this awesome really focused, non-pushy chick from Just Leave give instructions. She organized the group with help from a few others. The dragon came down and the whole experience was amazing to watch, listen, and participate in. We destroyed the dragon quickly and people were cheering.

Sorry for the tl;dr. It was an eye-opening experience for me. Thanks to Anet for the content. Its the most fun I’ve had in this game since Halloween with the Clockwork tower. Keep this type of stuff coming as it forces people to listen, learn, and play together. Also thanks to everyone on the blackgate main and teamspeak. I had a really awesome experience with you guys.

Coming from Blackgate, the following compliments may be biased.

This event is probably one of the single-best community builders that GW2 has released to date. Getting people into TeamSpeak or another VoIP program is the biggest challenge. Instead of working against a wave of resistant pugs and unknowns, you’re working with people who have a voice and an opinion.

Hard content like this presents a challenge to learn and develop skills. There is a part of the community that CRAVES this. Slowly, Blackgate has been trying to share the experience with non-native guests and show them how much fun it is going through the work needed to kill Tequatl.

There are those from low-pop servers, casual players, and the generally lazy that are begging for nerfs. They contest that they shouldn’t have to engage in hard content; that content like this is a way of excluding them. I’d like to think that they ask for nerfs because they haven’t been able to have the full Tequatl experience. Or if they have, they can’t keep the experience because their home servers lack the resources to do so.

A+ Seriously. Best gaming experience I’ve had in a long time.

Afk people, maybe. But i assume some of those will always be there.
Poor play, it could be. But again, people that simply don’t care about having the right equip, following a strategy or simply being good enough will partecipate anyway – maybe just in a reduced number.

But do you seriously think that trolls will avoid partecipating in the only event that permits them to surely ruin to the fun for another hundred people without any risk of getting banned?

Just coming to say that I LOVE the new Teq fight! Even though we might not win against him every time, I’m really enjoying working together with my server to coordinate the fight. The loot is slightly lackluster, but I still do it every time because I love being able to do stuff with other people in such larger numbers, especially since dungeons are restricted to 5 people.

One of the best content and updates ever. You finally managed to get people on servers to work together (WvW was a good attempt). People are satisfied at just beating Tequatl and not at what pops out from the chest rewards (although that’s an added bonus). The one and only blemish on this – the overflows, the wait in between and as result, the number of AFKers.

This is 1 challenge for my guild we take overflow and have 85% of map. Its very cool when Spvp and WwW all united trying kill this. So we alreydi killed him about 6 times. use only our mans sorry for my english

Challenges and difficulties make content more rememberable – I still remember grinding a whole month in GW1 just to get max Lightbringer and Sunspear to have a chance of wining Mallyx and completing Domains Of Anguish.

Agreed. This is what all of my server mates and I were saying all week long. We finally beat Teq tonight and yeah, rewards were bad.. Really bad. No noticeable loot to speak of on anyone. But the fight, and banding together as a server and finally defeating him was worth it and reward enough.

This has been my experience (notice I said my), load into Sparkfly, check map chat if it already seems toxic move overflows, find one that seems to be friendly people preparing where everyone is going to go, then I stay, so now i wait an hr+? (my server still hasnt popped saying I can join), Teq comes the main zerg gets faced rolled, now at some point you say how many times do you waypoint? Or do you waypoint and dont bother to rejoin the zergball (death is eminent anyway). 15mins is over and its a fail, do I feel epic? How do I help, get better armour? Buy the food needed? Stand around waiting for my server to pop and get the overflow again, rinse repeat.

For the first time since this started I really thought last night, this is the overflow thats going to do it, we had a guild that had already completed this numerous time, the orgainising was at epic scale, the information being handed out in map chat was said with enthusiasm and everyone was ready, tray of food popped for those that didnt have, best skill usuage was told, but what they could do nothing about was the 30+ afk people around the turrets upscaling that area to something seen at an aether farm. I thanked that Commander that tried to lead that overflow as he apologized for failing, they failed something they had no way of controlling.

Maybe once I get lucky and win, I will feel the same as everyone above, but will I want to repeat it? (back to sitting in sparkfly)

Actually, nvm, it seems that the survey’s creator neglected to update it for the last 7 hours since the original post. We’ll have to wait for the reliable results. However, keep in mind that the number of people who are already sick of zergfests (teamspeak ones included) is significant and for some, large amounts of teq-like content would mean the death of their fav game. Me included.

Really enjoyed this content, it brought what I love about WvW (coordinated efforts by large groups of players) into PvE. Probably the first time I didn’t feel guilty for abandoning the borderlands in order to experience new content. Love it!

I am going to throw a bit of dirt into this pond but opinions are just opinions. New Tequatl is not fine. Sitting for several hours doing nothing (well I guess I could farm a bit things in Sparkfly) is not my idea of fun. Log in at 6am to secure a spot for a kill at 11am while being mostly away from keyboard or watching youtube vids in between attempts? Aint nobody got time for that! And for what? 1% drop chance of Ascended Weapon? I rather grind 5 Ascended Weapons on my own, thank you very much. Yes, thats how it works right now. Unless you want your finger to fall off from clicking on Join button when you try to taxi later on. And overflows are a deadweight unless you go super-lucky and some Tequatl killer guild joins your overflow while you happen to be there.

And no, Tequatl is not hard content per player skill. When I do him on successful groups, I do exactly same things as I do when I zerg new Golem or Megadestroyer or Karka Queen. There is not much more to it. The whole “difficulty” comes to either be super lucky with being in the right instance at the right time or spending pointless hours while playing Overflow metagame. This is still miles and miles away from heroic raiding in WoW. And no, I am not going back to WoW, I prefer GW2 much more. But this whole new Tequatl thing is not well executed. Not even close.

I am a WvW player but staying forever in WvW isn’t an option. Releasing challenging content like this for PVE gives us a nice break from WvW. For me, it bring more people together who had to organize and cooperate to kill a Boss, not just stand below it and auto attack. We always have to evolve as players and get used to new conditions, not just stay static and cry when they bring us a new difficult task.
We failed more times than kill Tequatl but everytime we came stronger back, with new tactics till we killed him.
The only thing i would like to change is having a pre-event before the boss spawns, so people have time to get ready
Give us more nice fights Anet!!!

The one thing that bugs me about the fight is the sheer lack of cooperation on my server. If I had to guess, anywhere from 25-50% of the players on my server are AFK, and they just stand there throughout the fight. I think if someone is AFK for more than 60 seconds they should be auto-kicked.

Pretty much this. There are so many issues with the fight that it completely overshadows anything that can be seen as good.

It might be the greatest thing ever put into the game but the technical issues ruin it. We don’t need anything else like it until anet sorts their problems out.
